Brian Lumb, assistant principal at Village Elementary School in Hilton, takes the Ice Bucket Challenge to get students excited about responsible risk taking. Provided photo.
An icy challenge illustrates responsible risk taking Sometimes it takes a little cold water to get your point across. So that’s just what the administrators at Village Elementary School in Hilton did to illustrate responsible risk taking to their students – had buckets of cold water dumped over their heads! The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was part of the school’s first assembly of the year – each of which will illustrate a different International Baccalaureate (IB) learner profile trait. The 10 traits are what IB students strive for in their education. According to the learner profile, responsible risk taking is “approaching uncertainty with forethought and determination; and working independently and cooperatively to explore new ideas and innovative strategies. IB learners are resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges and change.” Before Principal Tracie Czebatol and Assistant
Principal Brian Lumb took the live challenge, students watched a video of their teachers taking the challenge over the summer at different locations – by their backyard pool, on a boat, in front of their school – just to name a few. Students are being asked to complete a form for their teachers outlining a responsible risk they will be accomplishing during the school year. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been raising awareness about the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis by challenging people to record and post on social media a video of themselves dumping ice water on their heads and challenging others to do the same. In addition to raising awareness, the Ice Bucket Challenge has raised $113.3 million to support the fight against ALS. Provided information

Eunice Chesnut retires after 37 years as historian in the Morgan-Manning House

After 37 years of dedicated service, Eunice Chesnut is retiring as historian for the Western Monroe Historical Society (WMHS). A reception and celebration was held for her at the Morgan-Manning House in Brockport on Sunday, September 14. “It was the best retirement party that anybody ever had. It was perfect,” Eunice said in a recent interview. “I was quite flattered that so many people came. People were lining up to talk with me; that was really nice.” At the event, Eunice was regaled by testimonies from present and former WMHS trustees and others: Pete Randazzo, Mary Lynne Turner, Gary Skoog, Bucky Ackles, Sue Savard, Ruth Rath, Kathy Goetz (absent, her words were read), Sandy Wright, and current WMHS president Alicia Fink. Fink’s presentation of a plaque (see side bar) and gift to Eunice began with: “For 37 years you have been the soul of the Western Monroe Historical Society. You started as a volunteer and soon became the Historian. During this time, you have been the receiver of the stories of the House, the keeper of the documents and oral history and the person most knowledgeable about the details of the House. You have been the one constant, the one who knew the most.” Fink added, “The plaque will hang in the hallway, along with the plaque which lists the names of the persons who were instrumental in bringing the House back to life, almost fifty years ago.” Among Eunice’s contributions cited by Fink were “two of the most important yearly events, The Old Fashioned Fourth of July and Peddlers Market. They were your creation.” She praised Eunice’s books on the history of Brockport: Two volumes of Encyclopedia of Brockport, and six others on topics such as food in area farms and restaurants, entertainment, founding leaders, and Lakeside Hospital Fink presented a gift from the members of the Western Monroe Historical Society, “a symbolic Key to the House.” The Key to the House was made from one of the skeleton keys that actually belong to the house. It was attached to a strand of pearls “which we hope will remind you of the many friends you have among the members of the Western Monroe Historical Society.” Eunice reflected on 37 years. “We started really with nothing; nobody came in and out of the house.” Her files originally were “two bushel baskets (family letters from

The Western Monroe Historical Society Confers upon Eunice Chesnut The title of Historian Emeritus In honor of 37 years of Outstanding service to the Society Presented with loving wishes on the occasion of her retirement September 14, 2014
Alicia Fink stands near Eunice Chesnut at the retirement reception for Chesnut in the Morgan-Manning House on September 14. Now, there are 26 file cabinets filled by Eunice. She praised the WMHS boards that supported her over the years. That support was there for her first book, Hoe Cakes and Hamburgers, about the food industry in the Brockport area. She was nervous about the $2,000 to print it. She was afraid to ask the board for the money, but she did, and the book sold out in a couple of months. The same fear set in when planning the first Old Fashioned Fourth of July. “Is anybody going to come,” she thought, “And will I be paying for these 100 hamburgers I purchased?” But the board had supported her plan. “People came in droves and I kept going back to buy more hamburgers at Ryan’s (Big M grocery store).” “I am very lucky to always have the support of the board,” Eunice said. “It’s hard to have a job like this if you do not have the support, and even enthusiasm, of a lot of people. That’s what made it easy.” “I am retiring but I will still be at Morgan-Manning House to volunteer once a week or so,” Eunice said. She said she loved the string of pearls with the Key to the House as an open welcome in retirement. “I do not want to cut my ties,” she said. “This is my second home.”
NYS Queen of Country Music launches book series for children by Kristina Gabalski Local country music fans are well aware of the musical talents of Nashville/Rochester recording artist Josie Waverly of Hilton. Now, the New York State Queen of Country Music can add children’s book author to her list of creative endeavors. Waverly recently released her first book in the Josie the Singing Butterfly series for children. The recording and performing artist says the books were inspired by her love of children (she is now a grandmother) and the fact that the love of her life calls her “Butterfly.” Twenty books are planned for the series which will follow Josie the Singing Butterfly as she experiences various adventures, inviting children along with her as she meets new friends and learns new things. The stories feature rhyming text for pre-readers and early readers alike. Waverly has partnered with local illustrator Jamie Rizzo to bring the singing butterfly to life. “I’m thrilled to be partnering with such a wonderful artist,” Waverly says of Rizzo, “she caught the spark immediately and illustrated Josie the Singing Butterfly, bringing her from concept to reality. The cherubic faces that she has drawn for this character will endear her to boys and girls.”
Waverly and Rizzo will introduce Josie the Singing Butterfly the weekend of October 4 and 5 during the Hilton Apple Fest. The two will have books, coloring books and t-shirts available for sale at the Hilton Community Center and will also be available to autograph them. “Launching this book series has been like giving Josie the Singing Butterfly her wings,” Waverly says. “I’m happy to see her fly.” Waverly also continues to express herself musically. She is currently at work writing songs for a new music release project. She has performed country music all over the United States and recently wrote and starred in two musical productions - “My Gal Patsy” and “The Queens of Pure Country.” includes staff reports

MaMa’s Toolkit LEGOS aren’t just for kids ®
by Michelle A. Dick LEGOS are everywhere, with every kind of play set imaginable. From Harry Potter™ to Batman™ and Star Wars™ to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™, LEGO® has obtained rights to just about every superhero and movie character that comes out today. When I was a child, there were only a few sets to choose from: police stations and space stations. ®
I remember one of the best Christmases I ever had was when my brother received all of the LEGO® space stations from Santa. I soon took them over and couldn’t stop building. Back then, they didn’t have LEGOS® geared towards girls, such as “Friends” LEGOS®or Hello Kitty® and Barbie™ Mega Bloks® play sets. If you wanted to build stuff, it had to be a masculine creation. Thankfully, girls’ toys have come a long way since the 80s. Passing down the LEGO® tradition I saved all of my brother’s space station LEGOS® and now my boys enjoy playing with them, as well as the castle sets that I bought over the years. They also insist on getting the latest sets that money can buy. LEGOS® have slowly taking over our house, and you must be careful where you walk at night. We build together, and the boys enjoy buying me “girl” sets for my birthday and Christmas. On special occasions, we go to the LEGO® Store at Eastview Mall, where we can buy specialized pieces. The boys build vehicles, planes, buildings, and castles, while I build the Emerald City and tree houses.
When word of “The LEGO® Movie” got out, we couldn’t wait to see it. The LEGO® Movie: Here we come! As soon as the boys had a school break, I took a day off from work to see it with them. Little did I know what an unforgettable movie experience it would be. Before the movie started, we sat for the previews which showed side nudity, a possessed little girl levitating, violence, and other not kid-appropriate things. The children in the theater, as well as the parents, were questioning the choice of previews. I figured other parents weren’t putting up a stink, and some had children younger than mine, so we just sat and I distracted the boys from the previews until the movie started. Then “The LEGO® Movie” started, with Samuel Jackson as a newscaster explaining military robots, and there was a terrorist scene with a family huddled together as bombs were going off. I was in shock! I told my terrified boys to put their heads down and cover their ears. I said firmly, “Don’t look; people might die!” I told them to stay put as I and other parents ran out of the theater to tell staff to stop the movie. It turned out the movie label above the theater door was labeled wrong. It was supposed to be labelled “RoboCop.” Many people walked out and demanded a refund, the rest changed theaters to where “The LEGO® Movie” was actually playing. When the correct movie started, we were relieved that we didn’t have to sit for anymore previews. That was an exciting movie day we’ll never forget and are sure to laugh about some day. BTW: “The LEGO® Movie” was AWESOME!
Joe’s stories - old, new, mostly true Freeing the pheasants by Joe Reinschmidt
Readers may recall a recent article about acquiring 30 pheasant chicks from the New York State Department of Conservation to be raised and released. On September 8, the ones that didn’t escape were released at around 12 weeks old. The males were almost in full color which was interesting to watch develop. As chicks, males and females looked identical, but in a week or so some were obviously larger and around two to three weeks developed longer tail feathers - a solid clue that they were the boys. Colors came along slowly and the distinguishing white ring on the necks came on one feather at a time, it seemed. They could fly after only a few weeks and soon some of them were hanging upside down on the wire ceiling of their outdoor enclosure, searching for a way out. The mortality rate was higher than I expected but apparently that is not uncommon. About 20 survived to be freed. It will be interesting to see how often they are seen in the coming weeks and months, assuming their instinct keeps them from becoming coyote or fox food. Having them around reminded me of an autumn Sunday morning in the late 1940s. We came home from church about 9 a.m. to observe a pump cock pheasant

strolling through our garden, sampling the veggies as he went along his way. We all enjoyed watching him, but my mother, Anna, had other ideas, such as roasting him in her Dutch oven. She reminded my father, Joe, that he had only brought home two pheasants during the hunting season, which was now closed. Anna urged Joe to harvest this one, since we were obviously feeding him. Joe was a man who pretty much went by the rules and declined. Unhappy with the decision, Anna said something about how other men would do it. That was a challenge, so Joe went to the gun rack, picked up his Stevens single shot 22 caliber rifle and a couple of long rifle shells. He went to the house window closest to where the pheasant was, took aim and squeezed the trigger. The pheasant dropped in his tracks.

Despite losing his right eye in WWI, and having to switch to left-handed shooting, Joe was a very good shot. Besides, as he joked, “I don’t have to close my right eye.” Realizing that someone may have heard the gunfire, he waited a while before heading over to the garden with a bushel basket in his hands, to retrieve the bird. As he bent down to pick it up, the pheasant jumped up, but couldn’t fly. He could, however, run and run he did - all over the garden with Joe in hot pursuit. Joe kept trying to drop the basket over the bird but it eluded him several times before he finally caught it. Meanwhile, half a dozen cars had gone down the road and some folks likely saw the activity. Joe ran to the barn, threw the bird in the wheat bin and buried it with wheat. After an hour or more, since no one showed up to question the activity, Joe retrieved the bird, dressed it and brought it in for cooking. It was a good fresh meal but I am not sure Joe enjoyed it. If my father ever had any idea of being a poacher, it died along with that pheasant!

Brockport Police Department will collect unwanted prescription drugs On September 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Brockport Police Department (BPD) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its ninth opportunity in three years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your items for disposal to the Brockport PD located at 1 Clinton Street, Brockport. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue, according to a press release from the BPD. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines - flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash - both pose potential
safety and health hazards. DEA is in the process of approving new regulations that inmplement the Safe and Responsible Drug Disposal Act of 2010, which amends the Controlled Substances Act to allow an “ultimate user” (that is, a patient or their family member or pet owner) of controlled substance medications to dispose of them by delivering them to entities authorized by the Attorney General to accept them. The Act also allows the Attorney General to authorize long term care facilities to dispose of their residents’ controlled substances in certain instances, according to the press release issued by the Brockport Police Department. No appointments are necessary to participate in “National Take Back Day.” Waste from pharmacies, veterinary offices and pharmaceutical businesses are not accepted at these Pharmaceutical waste drop-offs. Residents can access a full schedule by calling 753-7600 (option #3) or by viewing the county’s online household hazardous waste appointment scheduler at http://www.monroecounty.gov/hhw. Girl Scout sign up day Sept. 27 Helping a cause! Local girls can try Girl Scouting during the Great Girl Scout Sign Up Day September 27 at various locations throughout Western New York. The Great Girl Scout Sign Up Day will allow girls to try Girl Scout crafts and leadership activities. They’ll experience the fun and friendship of Girl Scouts first hand. At the same time, parents can learn how Girl Scouting makes a difference in so many girls’ lives. Under the guidance of caring adult mentors, girls test their own limits so they can learn more about themselves. In fact, compared to non-Girl Scout alumnae, women who were Girl Scouts tend to have a stronger sense of
self, according to the Girl Scout Research Institute. Plus, Girl Scouts are more likely to pursue higher education and have a higher income, according to Girl Scouting Works: The Alumnae Impact Study. Many of today’s national and international leaders - from Hilary Clinton to Taylor Swift - were Girl Scouts. The skills earned through Girl Scouting can help take girls wherever they want to be. The Great Girl Scout Sign Up Day is an easy way for girls to sign up for Girl Scouts and find a troop of their very own. But those who are not able to make it shouldn’t worry. Girls can join at any time and begin their own quest by calling 1888-837-6410 or by joining

Holley’s Hillside Cemetery and Chapel dedication September 21
The chapel, constructed of rough cut Medina Sandstone, will be open during a September 21 celebration at Hillside Cemetery in Holley. File photo.
“The Historic Treasure in Our Midst” will be an afternoon of celebration and dedication at Hillside Cemetery and Chapel, located at the intersection of Route 237 and South Holley Road, Holley. The September 21 event is sponsored by the Town of Clarendon to celebrate that the US Department of the Interior has recognized Hillside and its chapel by placing them on the National Register of Historic Places. A historical roadside marker will be dedicated. The National Register recognition highlights the two distinct stylistic approaches to cemetery design which are present. The picturesque 19th century “Rural Cemetery Movement” can be seen in the eastern portion of Hillside, which is literally built into the side of the hill. The 20th century “Lawn Style” approach is seen in the western portion. The cemetery has many beautiful gravestones which are works of art. The cemetery was started in 1866. Many local settlers are buried there as are the dearly departed of numerous local families.
The afternoon will begin at 1:30 p.m. with cookies and lemonade served in the chapel. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Amy Harris. The chapel is in the beautiful Gothic Revival style and built of rough cut Medina Sandstone. Closed to the public for decades, an effort is now being made to restore it. This is a unique opportunity to come inside and see the space. At 2 p.m. the new historical marker will be dedicated. Music will be provided by students of the Holley High School. At approximately 2:30 p.m. a tour of the cemetery will be conducted by Bill Lattin, Orleans County Historian. Lattin will explain the symbolism of the designs on the older gravestones, discuss the changing attitudes towards death and tell stories about the people who are buried in Hillside. Light refreshments will be served in the chapel throughout the afternoon. Provided information

Morgan Manning program spotlights a first at Brockport Collegiate Institute

CUSTOMER APPRECIATION SALE
Hear about Caroline Parker, first Native American Women’s Hall of Fame nominee On Thursday, October 2, John Maier will speak at the Morgan-Manning House about the first female Native American to attend the Brockport Collegiate Institute. She is Caroline Parker, a Seneca, who will be nominated for the Women’s Hall of Fame in the fall. Growing up on the Tonawanda Reservation, she learned her native language as well as English in attending a missionary school. She attended Brockport Collegiate Institute in 1845. Lewis Henry Morgan met her when visiting Tonawanda and was impressed with her education at BCI. Morgan was an American ethnologist and a principal founder of scientific anthropology. Parker’s bilingual and multicultural understanding proved to be crucial to Morgan’s ethnographic work. “His groundbreaking work the Iroquois Confederation, especially the Seneca tribe, was based almost exclusively on his friendship with Caroline, her parents, and her brother Ely
S. Parker - the famous one of the family,” Maier said. “Her schooling, and later her teaching, prepared her to make the contributions, I will be arguing, that were central to Morgan’s works ... which gained him an international reputation as the Father of American Anthropology.” John Maier, PhD was a professor in the English Department of the College at Brockport for 34 years from 1971 to 2005. He taught a variety of courses at the College in literature, literary theory, and linguistics. He authored or co-authored six books and wrote over fifty scholarly essays, usually in World and Comparative Literature. The event begins at 7:30 p.m., 151 Main Street in Brockport and is sponsored by the Western Monroe Historical Society. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. For information, phone the WMHS office at (585) 637-3645. Provided information
Looking for flower fields
Town of Clarkson what she said. To that I would like to add my own comment on the subject. How sad is it that the empty fields of beautiful wildflowers are vanishing, and once this one is gone, how far will one need to drive before this generation of little ones will see such a sight? When is the last time you gazed at the beauty of it? We wonder where the bees are? Maybe they are looking for such a field. To this town, and every town I ask, when is enough, enough? What on earth does Clarkson need with another $20 million in tax money annually? Another park no one goes to? Will we be the next town to eradicate every ounce of nature for money? Never again to hear “look at the beautiful flowers!” What a tragic shame.
A recent weekend we passed the lot where the Town of Clarkson is proposing to allow building of a mini-community consisting of many new dwelling places for new residents. Our five year old granddaughter said from the backseat, “look at the beautiful flowers,” as we drove past. I informed her they would all be gone once the new homes are built there, to which she replied: “They can’t cut down those beautiful flowers! Every time I go by I look at the beautiful flowers!” As we continued to drive to our destination I noticed there were not anymore “fields of beautiful flowers to look at!” I told our granddaughter I was going to tell the

Hiscock-Fishbaugh Post #788 wins Monroe County Baseball Championship He’s only been on the job for one season, but HiscockFishbaugh American Legion Post #788 Baseball Coach Daryl Wolf has already accomplished something no other Post #788 coach has done. Local civic leaders and Post #788 members were on-hand Wednesday night, September 10, to congratulate Coach Wolf and team members as they presented their Monroe County championship trophy – the first in Post #788 history. This year’s 18 wins and 4 losses in league play was no easy feat, with many wins secured in the last inning. “Historically, our teams haven’t hit well, but what won games for us were our pitching and defense,” Coach Wolf told those in attendance. “We spoiled several rallies by our opponents, some in the last inning.” Monroe County and District 7 American Legion Baseball coordinator George Debray echoed that sentiment: “These boys weren’t as strong as some of the other teams in the league but they played good, fundamental baseball.” While the Hiscock-Fishbaugh team bowed out of the District 7 tournament after one win and two losses, finishing the season with an overall record of 19 wins and 6 loses, the 18-man squad can truly say they earned it themselves. “One of the things that sets (Post #788’s teams) apart from the others is that we only select Hilton players,” said Hilton-Parma Recreation Assistant Director of Recreation Jim Volkmar. “I’ve been associated with Legion baseball for many years and while other Post teams can recruit from multiple schools, Post 788 has only selected from Hilton.” After presenting the Monroe County championship trophy to the Hiscock-Fishbaugh post, Coach Wolf and the team were recognized by State Senator Joe Robach and Monroe County Legislator Dick Yolevich, who also presented the team with a certificate of recognition from the

Now that this generation is entering its final phase of life, it is exerting its own brand of influence on funerals, burials, and cremation, as nearly 50 percent more Americans are expected to die in 2050 than in 2020. Simplicity seems to be on the minds of most as many Boomers are expressing a preference to be buried in shrouds rather than suits and in caskets made of biodegradable materials. Cremation is also a popular option. As Baby Boomers anticipate the mark they intend to leave on the world, we’re ready to comply with their last wishes.
Meaningful funeral ceremonies make a big difference in how families channel their grief toward health and healing. During the funeral, friends and family come together and respond to the reality that someone has passed away. A funeral encourages you to think about the person who has died and to explore the meaning of their life and the ways in which they touched the lives of others. For more information about the funeral services THOMAS E. BURGER FUNERAL HOME offers, please call 585-392-7100. Located at 735 East Avenue, we are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Family owned and trusted since 1976.

Schertler, Hochgraf register individual wins for C-C Saints by Warren Kozireski Sierra Schertler and Marlane Hochgraf were the only individual winners for Churchville-Chili as they fell to Brighton in girls swimming 105-78. Schertler took first in the 50-yard freestyle in :27.10
and Hochgraf, who set two school records last fall, was first in the 100-yard freestyle in :57.60. She was also part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team with Teresita Muniz, Giulia Salvatorelli and Mercedes McKinney winning with a time of 1:53.10. With Brighton swimming exhibition in the final race,
Hochgraf, Helena Buttons, Schertler and Salvatorelli took the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:12.92. Saints Isabelle Horvath added a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, McKinney the same in the 200yard individual medley as did Schertler in the 500-yard freestyle.
Rabidoux, Schumann pace Rangers by Warren Kozireski Josh Rabidoux and Matt Schumann combined for 14 kills to lead Spencerport to a three-game sweep over Hilton in boys volleyball. Hilton led early in game one by as many as four points before the Rangers went on an 8-0 run and used four consecutive service errors by the Cadets to earn a 25-17 win. Game two was tied on 11 separate occasions, including 22-22, before Schumann and Rabidoux registered three consecutive kills to finish a 25-22 win. In the third game, Hilton rebounded from an early five-point deficit to tie the game 19-19, but a Ranger kill
by Jarod Barnard and a match-winning tip-kill by Rabidoux ended the 25-23 win and completed the three-game sweep. David Bocach led the Cadets with seven kills, Nick Jay 12 assists, Evan McIntyre five blocks and Armand Florio had eight digs. For the Rangers, Rabidoux added three aces to his team-high eight kills, Schumann had six kills and a pair of blocks and Barnard added four kills with 13 assists. Andrew Bertino led with five digs and chipped in three aces while Trevor Lane had three kills with two blocks.
Byron-Bergen/Elba improves to 2-0 by Warren Kozireski Byron-Bergen/Elba led just 12-0 at halftime, but exploded for 20 second-half points to defeat visiting Holley in the second football game of the regular season. Senior Mike Shanley took the opening kickoff 73 yards to set up the Lancers at the Holley 21 yard line. He plays into the drive and on fourth down and goal from the fiveyard line, quarterback Garrett Chappell found tight end John Hochmuth for a touchdown making it 6-0. On their next possession, the Lancers had a nine-play scoring drive featuring 31 yards on the ground by Steele Truax, including a 15 yard scamper on third down and 11 where he broke two tackles on his way to the end zone. After the Lancers defense again held the Hawks to a four-and-out, the offense had a 12-play drive stall on downs largely thanks to two holding penalties. Holley was able to generate their first first-down of the game on their third possession and another just prior to halftime on running plays by Clarence Moyer and quarterback Nicolas Passarell. In the second half, Lancer Bryan Hollenbeck recovered a fumble at the Holley 35 yard line and made the Hawks pay just three plays later as Chappell again found Hochmuth on a 39 yard scoring pass. Hollenbeck’s extra point attempt made it 19-0. Richard Flores had a 15-yard misdirection touchdown run on the next Lancer possession for a 25-0 lead and Truax went over 100 yards rushing on his five-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter for a 32-0 advantage. Holley scored their first points of the young season following a 55 yard drive led by six runs by Glenn Robb and six more from Zachary Day, who scored on a five yard run in the final minutes. “With Shanley getting hurt early, it allowed some other guys to get the ball and Steele carried the load for us today,” Lancers head coach Michael Cintorino said. “We have four undergrads on the (offensive) line, so they are coming along well while learning on the job. We’ve only needed to call two or three different passing plays over the first two weeks, so nobody has seen what we have in the playbook.” Holley had 104 team rushing yards led by Robb’s 26
yards - all in the fourth quarter. Lucas Silvis had eight tackles and Robb added three solo tackles with one sack. Truax finished with 108 yards rushing and two touchdowns, Hochmuth 44 yards receiving and two touchdowns - both from Chappell. The Lancer defense was led by Truax’s 18 tackles with Hunter Taylor adding 13.
