In 2003, the Brockport Fire Department Museum received an old fire helmet formerly worn by Assistant Chief Engineer Leonard Krausey in 1882. Krausey was a commanding chief during one of the largest fires in Brockport history on June 22 and 23, 1882 when the Johnson Harvester Factory on North Main Street burned. The fire left 450 men out of work and the factory was never rebuilt. Brockport Village Historian Jackie Morris is pictured with (l to r) Chief Retired D. Scott Warthman, Fire Department Historian Gerald Remington, Museum Curator and Fire Chief Gregory Wing, as she presented the helmet to the Fire Department.

The story of the Spencerport Depot The Spencerport Depot was built around 1908 and served as a station on the Buffalo, Lockport, Rochester (BL&R) line. One could travel to Adams Basin for a nickel, or to Rochester for a dime. The service was discontinued during the Depression in 1931. Part of the effort of the volunteers was the removal of a porch and added room in order to make the historic preservation authentic. File photo by Walter Horylev. May 23, 2005: Crowds gathered to watch the depot make the trip down West Avenue, maneuver the intersection with Union Street, and return to a spot along the Canal near it’s original location. The Spencerport Depot and Canal Museum was formally dedicated in May 2007 and continues to serve as a museum, library and Welcome Center for canal travellers. File photo by Walter Horylev.
