In 1921, The Nut Club formally organized and “The Fall Festival” began as an annual event on West Franklin Street. A.D. and Kenneth Alexander, both West Side Nut Club past presidents, witnessed the festival grow to become the largest in the Midwest. Today, annual attendance averages over 200,000 visitors. In 1921, A.D. Alexander established the West Side’s first funeral home. Today, the Alexander family, and staff of dedicated funeral professionals, continue to serve area families with five locations. Chris Whiteley, Alexander Memorial Park Superintendent, is a proud Nut Club member.
