SAI Overview
Only quality products set worldwide standards.
If Weidmüller is one of the market-leaders in the global distributors sector, then that did not just happen by chance. In the development of SAI distributors, Weidmüller engineers have worked in conjunction with their connectivity partners and provided a range of cost effective installations concepts. Those products have set standards in terms of functionality and quality – worldwide. The best example of this is the new FIXCON® connection system for sensors and actuators, which optimises installation time and reliability yet further. These days, often the only way of achieving savings is by simplifying installation and improving the reliability and safety of the products. And that means quality right down to the tiniest detail. Therefore, modern installation concepts have to be designed to save materials, money, time, space and weight right from the outset. Products that enable such concepts are therefore absolutely crucial. And this is exactly where you can rely on Weidmüller’s quality, experience and power of innovation.

SAI Overview
Plug in – click –finished! Those few words sum up the installation instructions for the latest distributor design. The new FIXCON® connection system is so fast and reliable that it has already become firmly established in many areas of modern production. FIXCON® needs no screws. FIXCON® is simply plugged in and connected by means of a clip arrangement. That makes FIXCON® one of the fastest distributor systems in the world.
Weidmüller can supply SAI distributors in all customary forms, with four, six or eight connections as required in various designs – for normal and extreme applications. SAI distributors from Weidmüller are integrated into machines and systems by way of "direct mounting”. They combine the signals from sensors and actuators locally. This is an easy way to cut installation and service costs because we use prefabricated lines and conventional M8/M12 round plug connectors. On the other side of the distributor a busbar creates the connection to the control. Depending on which type of SAI distributor is being used, the busbar is either permanently integrated (SAI-F) or can be connected to screw or tension spring terminals (SAI-M). This greatly enhances ease of servicing and considerably reduces the cost of materials. A fault in one line means that only this connection terminal with its hood has to be replaced, and not the whole distributor. Another practical detail is the generous marking area. That assists clear labelling which in turn simplifies fault-finding and maintenance work, and thus cuts downtimes to a minimum.

Overview - M12 distributor Well designed system for direct installation – SAI Overview
without the need for a protective housing
The M12 distributors from Weidmüller are based on a wellthought-out, ingenious and proven direct mounting system. This system has enabled Weidmüller to become one of the global market-leaders in this sector and at the same time has set international standards in terms of quality and functionality. Weidmüller M12 distributors fulfil all the requirements placed on a modern installation concept. They have become very popular thanks to their fast installation and modular design. Weidmüller M12 distributors are very compact and hence save space. For instance, the connection hood projects no higher than the smallest elbow-type M12 round plug. M12 distributors are particularly robust and hence also suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions. The Pocan material used for the housing is characterised by its high dimensional stability, good electrical and mechanical properties, and its resistance to lubricants and coolants. The high-quality metal threaded rings are also particularly robust. Cost saving in cabling, installation and maintenance times, are a prerequisite within Weidmüller SAI family. Busbars can be prefabricated and connection hoods are interchangeable with 4, 6 and 8 channel base modules. This offers the flexibility Weidmüller discerning connectivity partners demand for upgrades, extensions and maintenance The M12 distributors from Weidmüller enable you to install a well-conceived system and hence set your own standards of quality.
