Complete and Flexible Drive Solutions

with the Motion Control System

Dynamic. Precise. Economic. Modern machines and installations require innovative drive technology with high flexibility, precision and reliability. The Motion Control System from SIGMATEK provides a high performance, user-friendly and economic solution as well as the freedom to implement your customized machine and plant concepts. Motors, drives and software are optimized to interact seamlessly and are fully integrated in the SIGMATEK control system. Motion control tasks are therefore flexible and easy to complete. The 300 series DIAS drives and the servomotors are designed for special requirements. In combination with the LASAL MOTION software, highly dynamic, synchronized and reliable applications are generated from a single source. The open, Ethernet based VARAN bus ensures fast hard real-time capable and nearly jitter-free communication.

Maximum Output in a Compact Package The DIAS Drive series 300 servo amplifiers execute all axial movements fast and precise, as well as make a powerful impression with their small, compact form. In a single housing, up to three drives are integrated which saves space in the control box as well. The drives provide an individually adjustable and scaleable end stage concept for servo motors. The functions are deliberately limited to current, rotation speed and position control in order to avoid unnecessary overhead. This well thought out “reduce to the maximum” design makes the DIAS Drive Series 300 an important component for a high performance and dependable drive system with an optimal price/performance ratio. Additional plus points are: various feedback systems, high efficiency and low heat generation. Line filters are also integrated in the DIAS Drives.

SIGMATEK Drives and Motors a Successful Team Our motors are “compact power packs”; they impress with their high power spectrum, optimal overload capacity and rotation speed dynamics in a compact form. The synchronous servomotors from the AKM series are brushless, rotary current motors with 3-phase windings and have permanent magnets in the rotor. The neodymium magnet material and low inertial torque contribute significantly to making these motors highly dynamic. The motors are available in seven sizes with idle torques ranging from 18 to 53 Nm and peak torques up to 143 Nm.

Technical Data

Seamless Integration and Perfect Communication

Real-Time Ethernet VARAN Bus With the short access times and high synchronicity that can be reached with VARAN, implementing controls for complex tracked profiles in combination with a highlevel PLC is simple and economic. In addition, a significantly deeper integration of the drive in the control is achieved with the VARAN bus. Data such as alarms, motor data, etc. can be processed and visualized in the PLC without time limitations.

Hard Real Time - Short Cycle Times, High Synchronicity Especially for fast machines with drives, the VARAN bus is ideal; all access can be synchronized in hard real-time (synchronicity inaccuracy < 100 ns). Through the high data transfer rate and large bandwidth of real-time Ethernet communication, it is possible to activate more drives in a shorter time than with current field bus systems. For data exchange between the PLC and drive (16-byte read/write data corresponds to one drive), the VARAN bus needs for example, only 5.05 Âľs. With a data transfer rate of 500 kBauds, conventional field bus systems such as CAN need more than 400 Âľs for the same amount of data. A significant advantage of VARAN, in comparison to other real-time Ethernet bus systems, is the very small packet size. Instead of the long standard Ethernet frames, the packet length for the VARAN bus is a maximum of 128 bytes. Because drives regularly produce noise from the output stage pulse, the noise-free time slot is relatively short. Through the use of short packet lengths in the VARAN bus, the probability of a destroyed message is extremely low. If this should occur, the message is immediately repeated within the same bus cycle. Simple Integration of Motion Control with

LASAL and LASAL MOTION Integration in LASAL is the object-oriented project tool for SIGMATEK controls and helps to achieve a fast and easy initial start-up of the control system. The start-up/parameter software for the DIAS drive series 300 is completely implemented in the LASAL programming software; no additional software is required.

Clear, structured display of amplifier data.

15

Parameter Sets for All SIGMATEK Motors Parameter sets for all SIGMATEK motors are already available. The user only has to adjust the systemspecific data and does not need to worry about the motor parameters.

Optionally, user-defined parameter sets can be created to fit individual user requirements. They can also be based on existing SIGMATEK parameter sets.

1

Data Analyzer The DIAS drive series 300 have an internal data analyzer that can record data up to a scan rate of 62.5Âľs. This data is stored in the converter in real-time and is displayed through the software tool. Optimizing the controllers and displaying the data analyzer can be done in the same screen view.

Graphic Representation of Controller Start-Up Current, rotation speed and position control are graphically displayed in the software, which ensures a clear overview at any time. All respective control parameters are visible at a glance and can be set individually.

1

To implement the large spectrum of applications with the DIAS drives, the LASAL MOTION package was designed. This part of the LASAL automation software is responsible for the drive technology. LASAL MOTION provides a drive library that simplifies solving application tasks. Functions such as absolute, relative and endless positioning as well as CNC functions, coordinated movements and several types of referencing are all standard features. In the library, there is a selection of coordinated movements such as line interpolation with up to 6 axles, circular interpolation, cam discs, gear functions as well as flying saws, tangential axles, electrical waves or orbital motion.

Linear interpolation

Point to point

Circular interpolation

Helix

Curved disk function

Electrical gears

Flying saws

Axle Control Using Interpreter In the LASAL software package, an interpreter is integrated that allows commands to be called without additional programming. In addition to the predefined standard commands, user-defined commands can also be added. The LASAL MOTION package offers normal function calls over the program, as well as the option to control all tracked movements, positions, status queries and axle parameters through the interpreter interface. This can be done through the Windows surface to implement the axle startup without additional programming, or these interpreter commands can be called by the respective application.

Axle movements can be executed with the simple input of data/instructions without programming.

18

The LASAL MOTION Software‘s Modular Design Through the object oriented tool LASAL, a very high modularity is given to all components. The motion control elements can be combined easily, whereby the implementation of various technical applications can be realized with little effort. The modular construction allows hardware-independent control of the movement; therefore, it is irrelevant to the customer whether a hydraulic axle, servo motor or similar device is controlled. The instruction-call remains the same. During development of LASAL MOTION, a great deal of attention was given to efficient axle commands with high usability. Several axles can therefore be synchronized using only one command call. Synchronization can be achieved through speed, position, position offset, with gearing or virtual axles.

Highest performance, safety and drive control flexibility with the DIAS-Drives 300 series in conjunction with the real-time Ethernet bus system VARAN.

SIGMATEK Motion Control System - YOUR ADVANTAGES ■ Everything comes from one source: SIGMATEK provides control systems, drives and software. This reduces technical, training and management costs.

■ The compact design with up to three drives in a single housing saves space and reduces costs. Only one project tool for drives and control is required.

■ No double functions exist: The converter concentrates on its essential tasks while the control takes over the application tasks. Expensive electronics not needed in the drive are left out.

■ Control parameter definition and oscilloscope display can be shown in the same screen, thus ensuring a clear overview.

■ The parameters are stored in the control. The converters can therefore be exchanged easily. ■ Modular motion control elements ensure the highest degree of flexibility possible. ■ With the use of the VARAN bus as the communication protocol, data consistency and the highest reaction speed are ensured.
