Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Article 7 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18th December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (“REACH”) stipulates for the registration of substances and for notification in the event specific conditions are met. Article 7(1) REACH does currently not apply to Weidmüller as Weidmüller, under the definition of REACH, does either not “release” substances at all or where, by way of exception, it “releases” substances they are less than 1t per year. Whether or not Weidmüller will be subject to the information and notification requirements with respect to specific substances according to Articles 7(2) and 33(1), read together with Articles 57, 59(1) REACH can be decided once such substances are specified in a so called “candidate list” for inclusion in Annex XIV REACH. Currently, this “candidate list” has not been published. However, Weidmüller is at pains to prevent environmental pollution or hazardous substances in its products even beyond the legal requirements.
