Soul mates for sure.” Alison reflected, “There are so many tangible and intangible benefits to Rotary Exchange. It is a fantastic opportunity for people throughout the world to meet and realize that we all have so much in common, no matter where we live. Compassion, understanding and acceptance is so important and we all need to work together to help our communities, countries, and world.”

GoFundMe page set up, Dancsok released from hospital A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family of Ryder Dancsok, after he required a lift by the STARS ambulance and a Spinal Tap surgery. Residents can find the page online at: gofund.me/ d3ec077a or by searching Ryder Dancsok’s name. As submitted: My name’s Ryder Dancsok. I have FSGS focal Segmental Glom-
erulosclerosis. My Mom checked on me on the morning of June 5 because I wasn’t answering any of her messages. When she came down to my room I was completely delirious. Apparently I wouldn’t let her near me and I was moving away from her. I had made my room horribly messy, which for me is very unusual.
So she called 911 and at first they sent a regular ambulance but once they took my blood pressure they instantly called the STARS helicopter. My blood pressure went over 220/140. So first they gave me an IV then they flew me to Moose Jaw. They did a few tests there like blood work, MRI and a ultrasound. Then they put me in a medically in-
duced coma and after that was completed they put a breathing tube down my throat. I didn’t need a catheter because I don’t urinate. They did more tests like another MRI, a spinal tap, a scope and a X-ray. It took three days before I woke up. I noticed the breathing tube completely down my throat, but luckily they got it out pretty quick. The other thing I noticed
was I was basically blind. I learned that my blood pressure going that high caused my brain to swell. The doctor told me that
I only had an eight per cent chance of surviving since it was so bad. I ended up spending 24 days in hospital.

Hello, My name is Shea Meginbir; I work in Recreation at Ross Payant and I held the Summer Solstice Shopping Spree on Wednesday June 21st. I was handed a stack of Bingo money that needed to be coloured and decorated by Margaret our recreation coordinator about two years ago. She just said here I delegate this job to you so I got the residents to colours it and we laminated it. I started handing it out for Bingos with not much of a plan on where they could spend it. The residents worked really hard at earning Bingo cash, but also did word searches, colouring pages, and took part in an Easter egg hunts to earn even more this excited and encourage them. The Residents enjoyed receiving money and were excited to spend it. Some residents had as much as $500. I decided a silent auction was going to be how they could spend it. Our department decided the auction would take place in June. Letters were delivered in end of April by myself to businesses in the community with the hopes they would assist with small prizes for our residents to spend their money. June came and I mentioned to the wonderful ladies from the Auxiliary group, who took over the canvasing for the Silent Auction, shopping for items, canvassing and then coming and helping with the setup and helped residents with their shopping. These amazing women and donations from community members made this solstice HAPPEN. With the puzzles, bird house, word search book, Gift Certificates, hats, items of food and drink etc., our store was created and they could shop. It was a huge successful Summer Solstice with many happy smiles of the joy to shop with their own money buying many of the beautiful items donated from all over town from most of the local business in town. The residents were able to buy gifts for their loved ones and treats for themselves. It was a successful day of smiles and laughter enjoyed by all who participated. The Ladies Auxiliary who volunteered was Elva Beecraft (Elva also canvased her heart out and collected a lot of stuff for the event), Bonnie Batty (who even had a wedding that day but showed up to still help) and Margaret Diakow (with her busy schedule of helping others made time for us). A huge thank you to all the businesses that made our residents day.
