For The City Mission For 117 years The Wellington City Mission has been helping individuals and families in times of crisis and hardship, by providing supported housing, social work, daily meals, weekly groceries, and financial mentoring. This year, The City Mission is embarking on a game-changing building redevelopment project, to address issues of food insecurity, homelessness and social isolation. The building project - called Whakamaru - brings innovation and dignity to services, and offers a new approach to diminish social barriers and create a more integrated community. Whakamaru will be a fit-for-purpose building offering a free Social Supermarket, a dynamic Community Café, supported housing units, and a new home-base for The City Mission. Art for the Soul Charity Auction is raising much needed funds to help build Whakamaru. The building site is located near the Basin Reserve and construction is due to commence in July 2021, with Whakamaru opening early 2023. We are grateful for your support.
