Summer Lights returns, until Aug 20, FREE

The sun’s rays are the primary medium for a collection of 11 new installations that have been placed across Canary Wharf for the return of the Summer Lights festival. Joining six permanent works already in place, the full cohort makes up a trail that will lead Wharfers all around the estate’s public outdoor spaces as well as to an exhibition of hand-blown glass in the lobby of One Canada Square. Designed to change as the sun rises, passes and sets, the pieces use re ection, refraction and colour in a bid to attract and delight the eyes of viewers. Below are a few of the pieces in the permanent collection that feature, with full listings available on Canary Wharf’s website. Go to canarywharf.com

Gant, Canada Place gant.co.uk

Cut costs with smart buys such as this shirt in Silver Lake Blue from Gant – currently down from £99 in its latest sale.

Better still, it’s a dual purpose piece, doing just as well in the o ce with a pair of smart trousers as it will on the beach as a cover-up when that midday sun gets too strong and it’s time to head indoors for something to eat and a glass of chilled sangria.
