3. Traffi cked With Mariana Van Zeller

In this eight-part docuseries, journalist Mariana van Zeller explores the inner workings of smuggling networks as she journeys inside the most dangerous black markets on the planet. The series premieres with two back-to-back hourlong episodes. In “Scams,” van Zeller travels from Jamaica to Israel to pursue some of the biggest phone, lottery and fi nancial scammers in the world, and learns why Americans are the perfect targets. Then, in “Fentanyl,” van Zeller investigates the new bosses, new routes and American communities paying the price for the next wave of fentanyl. Premieres on Nat Geo Wednesday, Dec. 2

4. History’s Greatest Mysteries: Roswell: The First Witness

In 1947, a New Mexico farmer discovered strange debris in one of his fi elds. Though the government claimed it was a crashed weather balloon, it wasn’t long before speculation that the object was actually UFO caught the public’s imagination — a theory that some still believe today. Now, new evidence, including the diary of the man fi rst on the scene of the crash, may shed light on what really was found in Roswell. Premieres on History Saturdays, Dec. 12-26

5. The Masked Dancer

Comedian Craig Robinson hosts this twist on The Masked Singer where, instead, celebrities compete on the dance fl oor in elaborate costumes and are unmasked every week in front of a panel of judges, including Ken Jeong, Brian Austin Green, Paula Abdul and Ashley Tisdale. Premieres on FOX Sunday, Dec. 27

6. Baby Chimp Rescue

In Liberia, West Africa, Jim and Jenny Desmond operate a sanctuary for young orphaned chimpanzees rescued from the illegal pet trade. This threepart series follows the Desmonds as they prepare the chimps for life in the wild by teaching them essential physical and social skills. In the premiere episode, “Miracles Can Happen,” the Desmonds rescue a chimp named Miracle and introduce her to life at their facility. Premieres on BBC America Saturday, Dec. 5

7. Nurses Following the success of the Canadian medical drama Transplant, NBC has acquired Nurses, another hospital-set series from the Great White North. As its title indicates, the drama, follows fi ve young nurses working on the front lines of a busy downtown hospital, dedicating their lives to helping others while struggling to help themselves. Preview episodes will air Dec. 7 and 14 before the series takes its regular spot in NBC’s Tuesday night lineup starting Jan. 5. Premieres on NBC Monday, Dec. 7

8. Jeopardy!

Legendary Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek passed away Nov. 8 at the age of 80 due to complications from pancreatic cancer. Even during his nearly two-year battle with the disease, Trebek valiantly continued the hosting duties he had performed for nearly 40 years, since the current incarnation of the series began in 1984, and he worked up until a mere 10 days before his passing (his last day in the studio was Oct. 29). The last episode of Jeopardy! that Trebek recorded airs today, and it may be the only time in history that a game show has made viewers cry. 9. Most Terrifying With Jason Hawes

World-renowned paranormal investigator Jason Hawes uncovers the world’s most horrifying haunts in this series. In tonight’s premiere, Hawes uncovers haunted ruins including an abandoned amusement park, a sinister grain silo and a long-shuttered subterranean factory forever stalked by restless spirits and malevolent creatures. Premieres on Travel Channel Saturday, Dec. 5

10. The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart

Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb — otherwise known as the Bee Gees — found early fame in the 1960s, and went on to write over 1,000 songs, including 20 No. 1 hits throughout their storied career. This fi lm follows their meteoric rise as they negotiated the ever-shifting music business and navigated the complexities of working so intimately alongside family. A wealth of neverbefore-seen archival footage of recording sessions, concert performances, television appearances and home videos make for an intimate exploration of the band. Premieres on HBO Saturday, Dec. 12 11. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman’s fi nal fi lm role before his untimely passing this year at age 43 is in this drama coproduced by Denzel Washington and based on August Wilson’s Tony Award-nominated play. In the fi lm, tensions and temperatures rise over the course of an afternoon recording session in 1920s Chicago as a band of musicians await trailblazing performer and legendary “Mother of the Blues,” Ma Rainey (Viola Davis). 12. Couples Therapy: The COVID Special

This one-hour documentary features renowned therapist Dr. Orna Guralnik as she and her patients grapple with the realities of the COVID-19 shutdown and its impact on their lives and relationships. During stay-at-home orders in New York this spring, couples struggle through remote therapy sessions and push Dr. Guralnik to the limits of her insight and skill.
