The Struts O2 Institute, Birmingham, Wed 13 July

“We believe in giving our absolute all every night, because that’s what our fans deserve,” says Struts frontman Luke Spiller. “The goal is always to get everyone dancing and screaming and shouting, and to make sure they leave dripping in sweat with huge smiles on their faces.” Along with opening for Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones, The Who and Guns N’ Roses, the British glam rockers were handpicked by Mötley Crüe to serve as the supporting act for their last-ever performances. Formed in Derby in 2012, the four-piece return for a long-awaited run of headline shows.

Craig Charles Asked by The Independent to define himself in six words, Craig Charles said, “late to bed, early to rise” - which probably explains why his CV, which includes work as a poet, comedian, author, presenter and DJ, is so

vast. Broadcasting for 10 years on BBC 6 Music in its primetime Saturday night slot, Craig is a favourite on the UK and European funk & soul scene, touring extensively throughout the year... See him at the Hare & Hounds following his slot at the Mostly Jazz festival earlier in the day.

Roger Daltrey Symphony Hall, Birmingham, Mon 4 July

“The truth is, singers need to sing. Use it or lose it,” says The Who frontman Roger Daltrey, ahead of a special evening featuring the band’s classics and rarities, Roger’s solo hits and a fan Q&A. “Throughout my life I’ve sung with so many great musicians - from the heavy rock of The Who and Wilko Johnson, to the Irish lilt of The Chieftains. On this tour, I want to take the audience on a musical journey through my career as a singer, with a show of songs and sounds that explores and surprises.”

The new project from guitarist James Walbourne (The Pretenders, The Pogues, The Rails) and Kristoffer Sonne (Chrissie Hynde, Willie Nelson), His Lordship has been described as “a furious riot of raging guitar and perverted drums from another dimension”.

Transglobal Underground Pizza Express Live, Birmingham, Fri 15 July

Over the past 25 years, Transglobal Underground has been a DJ/musical collective, a working band famous for its scorching live shows, a techno soundsystem, a folk festival rabble rouser, a pop group, a club night, a Middle Eastern hit production team, an improvised study group for Indian classical music, an Albanian brass band and more. Onstage it’s a joyful and unpredictable journey into the bottomless vaults of the Transglobal catalogue.

Based in Birmingham, Tom Leader is an alternative pop artist who enjoys making rhythmic acoustic loops and singing hopeful lyrics. His latest album, Uncomfortably Happy, was written exclusively during lockdown. In speaking to Concrete, Tom joked “It felt like the world was ending, so I had nothing to lose!” and then explained that the album is about “transitioning from a state of being comfortably unhappy to seeking a better path without the discomfort of that change. I guess when we confront our ‘demons’, that’s a daunting process. And although these are my demons, I’ve tried to portray them in a relatable way.”
