HOMINUM- is an informal support group to help gay, bi-sexual and questioning men with the challenges of being married, separated or single. We do not practice group therapy. Hominum offers members an opportunity to discuss their concerns and share experiences in a safe atmosphere. It is a great place to meet new friends. Info and meeting location, Art 604477-9553.

Changing Gears- meets on the 1st Wed of each month in the Brock Douglas Room of the Langley Seniors Center. 11am. This group is for 65 +. We meet to plan social outings for our members! Plays, day trips, dinners, movies etc.

Langley Field Naturalists-Free Zoom Presentations- meet the third Thursday of each month for a meeting followed by a presentation (currently via Zoom) to everyone interested. Login early. Instead of a Q&A, I thought I would take the time to introduce myself! Hi, Iʼm Kymm! Iʼm a mom to a smart and spunky 10 yo boy and bright and sweet 8yo girl, and wife to an amazing, supportive husband. I always experimented with my hair. Bleach blond, purple, short, long, black, red- almost every colour under the sun. I cut and coloured my friends' and familyʼs hair. Then my parents suggested I go to hairdressing school! Of course! After a month long bus trip across Canada, I returned and started school at the Hair Art Academy in South Surrey. After graduating I started immediately at a busy, trendy salon (because I pestered them so much they gave in)! After 6 years it was time to move on, but after being at the next salon for 6 months I wanted to see what the Tourism Industry had for me, because who doesnʼt love travel? And potentially doing it for free? Thats when I started going to peopleʼs homes to do their hair. Tourism school in the day, hair at night. As much as I enjoyed Tourism school, I wasnʼt thrilled by the potential jobs (my dream job of travelling the world and getting paid wasnʼt available), and the mobile part of my business was really taking off, so I didnʼt pursue tourism and went full bore into my hair business. I was mobile for 15 years! I would go into peopleʼs homes and learn about them and their families, play video games or dolls with the kiddos. I felt very welcome. In 2018, we sold our townhouse in Langley and bought a house in Abbotsford. I didnʼt want to be driving all day long so I looked into renting a chair within salons. I spent a couple years trying to find the right fit. I found an upbeat trendy salon I thought I would be spending a few years in at least, but then this damn pandemic hit and threw us all for a loop. I set out with my favourite Realtor and we found the most perfect space for me to open my own private, little studio. I am so excited for this new venture, and so thankful to everyone that has helped and supported me over the last 23 years! Hopefully I will see you soon in my new salon!
