But what if it’s your job to teach children or train animals? Do it outdoors facing variable wintry weather and the challenge becomes greater. Common to both scenarios is the skill, dedication and patience demanded of the instructors. The annual Aviemore Sled Dog Rally takes place in the shadow of the Cairngorms. Sometimes the race is run on snow but often the weather is cold and wet; ideal conditions are either lots of snow or dry underfoot. Regardless, around 1,000 dogs will be out on the trails of Glenmore Forest preparing for the start of two days of intense competition. 2016 will be the Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain’s 33rd rally. Equally eager and comfortable on the snow is Kyle Beattie, recently named the Highlands & Islands Tourism Award, Young Ambassador of the Year. During the winter months Kyle works as an instructor with Aviemore-based Free- Ski. Kyle was taught to ski by his parents at the early age of four. He developed his skills mostly on Cairngorm and is now a BASI Level 2 instructor working towards Level 3.
So what are the challenges, and rewards, of improve a skill without them realising; for teaching children? example getting the boys to pretend they “The weather conditions can be super are a goal keeper in a football match and variable and wild for the small kids.
