TIME FOR THE COLD
The holiday season is fast approaching, and it’s only getting colder. Take care of some last minute winterization before it’s too late!
Be prepared! Freezing water can break apart concrete and metal pipes, gutters, and downspouts. The freeze / thaw cycle is also damaging - and is worse in some areas rather than in others. Your home and its possessions can be protected by following a few guidelines. Our recommendation is that our system is a starting point for the development of a customized checklist that will be used for your specifi c home for many years to come.
• Prepare exterior water faucets and spigots for the upcoming cold months. Now is the time to consider those freeze-proof faucets!
• The icy weather can cause severe personal and vehicular accidents, so stock up on ice melt, snow shovels, and consider a snowblower.
• Drafty doors and windows are typically the biggest culprits with regard to a home’s heating system overrunning; and weatherstripping and caulking are the place to start.
• Up-keeping the roof is an important safeguard against hidden water damage; replace shingles as they become damaged. Keep in mind that shingles have manufacturer’s recommended replacement schedules. Alright, so you’re all prepared, it’s time to start thinking about the holidays! Love it or hate it, there’s no escaping the hustle-bustle of the holidays.
Look the part with our huge stock of decorations! Lights, ornaments, trees and all the accessories are a hot commodity this time of year, so start early and get festive.
