FESTIVITIES GALORE! We are yet to sober up from the sugar high we received from the Dusshera desserts and Diwali is already here. To be honest, we are not complaining. Here is yet another chance to take a vacation for the long weekend and yet another chance to stuff ourselves with more desserts and festive food. Winter is the perfect time to travel. The forest will be abloom, thanks to the rains and the sun just blissfully warm enough to drive away the shivers. Google for offbeat winter destinations and pack your bags to the beach or the trek you always wanted to go to.

We don’t mean to end this on a negative note, but we are still shaken by how severe the air quality in Delhi turned post Diwali 2017. People were asked not to venture out because the city was enveloped in smog. Let us not repeat the mistake this year for our sakes and for the sake of our planet.

It is high time for us to take responsibility for the same. Forego bursting firecrackers and light up your houses with lamps and mud diyas instead. Bring your community together and organize a story session, or better still, a wealth-from-waste craft workshop. You could learn how to make Diwali decorations and pretty paper lamps to adorn your home. We are sure the adults would love to revisit their childhood and the activity will help parents bond better with their children. If you own a pet and your neighbors intend on bursting crackers, send your fur ball on a vacation to place that is free of all the noise and smoke. Animals suffer the most during Diwali. Let us not forget, air and noise pollution happens throughout the year, so do your part and carpool instead of driving to work. Wish you a very happy Diwali’18.
