Brand Beginnings Burma Burma is the brainchild of Ankit Gupta and Chirag Chhajer, the concept of Burma Burma hails from Gupta’s Burmese roots. His mother and her family were brought up in Myanmar and therefore he has been introduced to the heady flavours of Burmese cuisine since an early age. Gupta belongs to a family of hoteliers and restaurateurs, hence it only made sense for him to take his mother’s delicious recipes and formulate this Burmese experience. Armed with the concept, design, and layout, Gupta approached his childhood friend Chirag, a food enthusiast, and an avid traveller to turn their young dreams of owning a kitsch establishment into reality. They firmly believed that the closeness of Burmese flavours to the Indian palate will be the reason behind Burma Burma’s stupendous success.
Ambience & Décor Unlike all the other locations, this one doesn’t adhere to any particular element from Burmese culture. It is, in fact, a depiction of changing Burma. A Burma that’s fast-evolving yet stands rooted in its core traditions keeping its culture intact. Retaining the same aesthetic, this outlet was designed to be a visually fluid journey through Burma. The brand used Burmese elements that was inspired from travelling across the country, like the weathered stone walls of the pagodas contrasting the antique embellishments telling their story, the lacquered furniture and the warm colors of the thangka paintings. The founders integrated these in a contemporary style into the interiors of the restaurant to create a mood that is warm, earthy yet lively.
Food At Burma Burma The Burmese platter offers a variety of taste and brings in influences from India, China, Thailand, and Laos. Burma Burma brings together the freshest of ingredients to serve an array of salads (thoke) and soups along with mains which are centered around rice, noodles, and curries that are widely popular across Burma. Well balanced for the Indian palate Burma Burma offers Burmese specialties without the typical meat broths and sauces associated with the cuisine.
