 Pink Polar Bear Golf Tournament

Members of the Chester River Yacht & Country Club organized and participated in the 11th annual Pink Polar Bear Golf Tournament in July, raising over $2,600 to benefit patients served in the Eleanor & Ethel Leh Women’s Center at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. This year’s event attracted 65 club members and guests. “We call it the Pink Polar Bear tournament because early on, it was explained to us that finding breast cancer can be like trying to find a polar bear in a blizzard,” said tournament chairperson and volunteer, Gwinn Derricott. “When we saw the capabilities of the tomosynthesis in mammography, we had to do our part to support the continued availability of this technology in Chestertown.” Learn more at umms.org.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES GIVEAWAY & RESOURCE FAIR

For All Seasons hosted its annual School Supplies Giveaway and Resource Fair in August 18 at Idlewild Park in Easton with over 800 participants in attendance. Talbot County Department of Social Services was a key partner in contributing to the purchase of hundreds of backpacks pre-stuffed with supplies for community children in need. In addition to the backpacks and school supplies, the event offered community resources, free Italian ice, movie theater popcorn, snacks, schoolyard games, and a raffle. “The purpose of the School Supplies Giveaway and Resource Fair is to meet a real and present need in the community while helping people recognize all the services available to them right in their own backyard,” stated Katie Theeke, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at For All Seasons. “We help destigmatize mental health when our team connects with people out in the community, and we get the opportunity to share important mental health information.” Learn more at forallseasonsinc.org.
