The Atlin Whisper

“Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world.”

Hello Atlin Artists

Do you have a workshop you would like to do at the Atlin Arts & Music Festival?

It’s your time to Shine!

WE are asking you 1st

Contact Rhoda at rlmerkel@yahoo.ca or on Facebook Messanger. Contact me if you have questions.

We have other artists contacting us – so apply ASAP.

You will have 2-two-hour workshops for 20 people (or more)

Supply fee is $20 per person = you get 100% of it.

Make your emergency plan today!

Take 30 minutes this week to talk with the people you live with and your neighbours about emergency planning.

An emergency plan outlines how you and the people you live with will respond to a disaster. Knowing in advance what to do, where to go and who to contact will reduce stress and help keep you focused and safe if an emergency occurs

Know your hazards

Knowing the hazards you need to plan for is an important step to being prepared.

Not sure what to prepare for? Take a look at the hazards listed. Which ones do you need to prepare for in Atlin?

Make your plan

Make your plan using PreparedBC’s interactive Emergency Ready plan or the fill-in-the-blanks home emergency plan. Remember to write down important phone numbers, health and insurance information so you have it on hand if you need to leave home quickly. Keep copies in your emergency kit and graband-go bags!

Learn more about how to get prepared and follow trusted sources for information during an emergency.

“A New Lease On Life”

A Winter whiteout gusty, blustery bitter, biting cold you’ve been out so long in need of shelter hold on almost home.

You open the door and lo and behold you’re enveloped by the aroma of a hearty beef stew reaching out to you.

As you slowly warm, thoughts of that beef stew invigorate you, give a new lease on life. You are going to eat like there’s no tomorrow.

Message from the Atlin community representative on the Government to Government Forum between BC and TRTFN ( the G2G Forum).

The G2G Forum addresses important issues on the land base, including mining and mineral exploration, protected areas, fish and wildlife management, as well as research and monitoring.

As your Atlin Community representative, I would like to hear from you about topics that are important to you so I can be the conduit of Atlin Community interests at the Forum.

Share your thoughts on the management planning process that BC Parks and Taku River Tlingit First Nation are initiating in regards to the Atlin Park and the Wilson Creek - Nelson Lake Conservancy at https://helpshapebc.gov.bc.ca/atlin-engagement

A single management plan will be prepared for both protected areas due to their adjacency and similarities in their natural values, ecosystems, and interest holders. This management plan will set out the long-term, strategic direction for both protected areas and provides guidance for how both Atlin/Áa Tlein Téix̱ 'i Park and Willison Creek – Nelson Lake/Sít’ Héeni Conservancy will be managed into the future.

The next forum is scheduled for March 4-5, 2025 (on-line format).

Send me your questions or issues relating to the scope of the G2G by emailing infoatling2g@gmail.com

The Evidence

The evidence is all there

Our choice:

Read it, or run from it

The

Blind Spot

The devil does not hide in the shadows

He operates in broad daylight right in front of us

And thus, we fail to see him

The devil does not have a forked tail

He has a cashmere cardigan and a charming smile

And thus, we fail to notice him

The devil does not move with great speed

But with unfathomable deliberateness

And thus, we fail to discern him

The Choice

Then, one sunny morning, humanity wakes up

Realizing…

That God is real

That Satan is real

And we have a real choice here

The Revelation

We are so lucky

We are living in unprecedented times

We get to act as witnesses

And as agents of positive change

As the ultimate battle plays out before us

Humanity is waking up

Recognizing the grand illusion

And standing up for what is real

The grand lie is falling apart

As it gets bigger and deeper each day

Desperately trying to hold its narrative together

One by one we are asking the crucial questions

And the vague answers are no longer acceptable

As they can’t continue to hide the distortions

The evidence is all there

We are digging deep and finding it

They can censor it all they want

But we find it, and we wake up

And the world becomes brighter

The Realization

The big lie

Is so big, so bold, so brazen

That we see it not for what it is

As we cannot possibly fathom

A lie of such a magnitude

Yet, after much cross-examination

Deep enquiry

And corroboration

There it is:

A big, fat lie

Staring us square in our faces

And we wonder, Howcouldwenotseeitbeforenow?

So, we squirm in our seats

As we consider our gullibility

Our culpability

And our responsibility
