Lower Camp Fireflies For campers age 4 (Fireflies must be 4 by June 18, 2012) The program for our youngest campers features a balance of high activity and quieter, restful moments. Parents have the option of a half-day program, in which campers take morning classes and leave The Farm just before lunch, or a fullday program, in which campers stay through lunch, electives, and closing activities. Junebugs For campers age 5 The Junebugs have a quality balance of high activity and quieter, restful moments. Like the Fireflies, parents have the option of a half-day program, in which campers take morning classes and leave The Farm just before lunch, or a full-day program, in which campers stay through lunch, electives, and closing activities.
Morning Classes Swimming Swim lessons are taught by lifeguards and are designed to meet each child at his or her skill level and guide them toward improvement. Our beautiful pool stretches from a 4-foot shallow end to a 10-foot deep end. Our youngest campers are accompanied in the pool by their counselors and can use noodles for aid in floatation. Nature Our beautiful Farm campus is the perfect location for outdoor discovery. In Nature, Lower campers may grow vegetables and flowers in the garden, learn to care for our small animals, and go on nature hikes through the woods and to the pond. Upper Campers, beginning with Navigators, learn the fundamentals of Archery, participate in challenges on our Ropes Course and develop the basic skills of Geocaching. Sports The goals of our sports program are teamwork and skill building. We offer a range of choices that allow many opportunities for personal success. Baseball, soccer, field hockey, basketball, and volleyball are just some of the options that may be offered. Younger campers play field games that emphasize cooperation and individual growth. Art In art classes, campers utilize virtually endless media to create projects large and small. Sculpture, painting, drawing, and craft activities vary every day. With a balance of guidance and choice, campers will find enormous opportunity to explore their own creativity.

Junior Pioneers For campers entering grade 1 Our Junior Pioneers enjoy a richly diverse choice of activities, but still have time to recharge and reflect. In the afternoon, Junior Pioneers join the Pioneers for mixed age-group electives.

Simply fill out all registration forms including camp selections, enrollment forms, health forms and release forms ALL ONLINE. Pioneers For campers entering grade 2 Pioneers are the seniors of Lower Camp, and emerge as leaders at camp meetings and assemblies. In the afternoon, Pioneers join the Junior Pioneers for mixed age-group electives.

Upper Camp Trailblazers For campers entering grade 3 Third graders enthusiastically blaze the trail into Upper Camp. Morning classes are designed to meet their enthusiasm. Afternoons feature a large variety of elective offerings including Archery. Navigators For campers entering grade 4 The Navigators bridge the gap between third grade and middle schoolers, and participate enthusiastically in all Upper Camp morning activities. They participate in all electives offerings in the afternoons including Archery. Adventurers For campers entering grades 5 and 6 Adventures await our fifth and sixth graders in classes designed especially for their skill level and a variety of electives every afternoon including Archery, Challenge ropes course, Geocaching and more. Explorers For campers entering grades 7 and 8 As our oldest Upper Camp group, the Explorers lead the way in the morning activities. They also participate in the afternoon electives including Challenge ropes course, Archery and more. Leaders-In-Training (LIT) For campers entering grades 9 and 10 Our LIT program offers exciting leadership activities, including ropes course and outdoor skills. These activities will be paired with the traditional counselor-in-training program: working and playing with our youngest campers and learning child-care skills from experienced counselors. This small, selective program only runs weeks 4, 5, 6 & 7.
There will be at least one counselor on each bus who will take attendance at each bus stop. Please make sure you check your child in with this counselor. 8:15am. Bus Drop-off - You may access our bus service from three different locations. 1) The Wheeler School on Meeting Street in Providence 2) The Barrington High School in Barrington 3) Behind the the Garden City Mall at the Post Office parking area in Cranston ALL Busses leave the drop off area at 8:30am. (There is no discount for one way bus service and no bus service available for half-day campers.) 4:00pm. Bus Pick-Up Campers who ride the bus can be picked up at their bus stops between 4:00 and 4:15pm. Note - If your child is not going to be on the bus on a particular day, please call the office so the bus is not waiting for you. Thank you!

Voyager Trips (Full Day) For campers entering grades 5 to 9. Runs weeks 2,4,6,8 In each weekly session, we swim, paddle, surf, glide, and slide our way through different adventures. Throughout the week we will kayak and snorkel in Rhode Island’s inland waterways, rock climb at the Rhode Island Rock Gym, learn to surf at Narragansett town beach, canoe along the east bay and enjoy a day at Water Wizz in Cape Cod. All programs include instruction for newcomers and tips for those more experienced. All boats, boards, and gear are provided. Horseback Riding (Morning)/ Camp (Afternoon) For campers entering grades 2 to 8. Runs weeks 1-8 The Palmer River Equestrian Center staff will teach and refine English riding skills. The week begins with grooming and tacking a horse, and young riders move quickly from walking to trotting in an indoor ring and on trails. The horseback riding program runs in the mornings. In the afternoons, participants return to The Wheeler Farm for lunch, electives, and free swim. Riders are grouped by age and ability.
Surf!
Kayaking (Full Day) For campers entering grades 5-9. Runs weeks 1,3,5,7 Throughout the week, we mix kayaking, shoreline exploration, and swimming as we teach the basics of this popular lifetime sport. We paddle on different waterways each day, practicing turning, stopping, and wet exit techniques. Trips may include the Wood River in Exeter, the Narrow River in Narragansett, and the Sakonnet River in Tiverton. Once a week we enjoy the wilds of Water Wizz in Cape Cod. Kayaks and gear are provided. Golf (Morning)/ Camp (Afternoon) For campers entering grades 2 to 8. Runs weeks 1,2,7,8 PGA professional Keith Allcock works with individuals on swing, putting, and short game techniques. All levels of experience are welcome. The golf program runs in the mornings at Firefly Golf Course. In the afternoons, participants return to The Wheeler Farm for lunch, electives, and free swim.

Soccer Skills (Morning)/ Camp (Afternoon) For campers entering grades 2 to 8. Runs weeks 1,2,7,8 This program introduces offensive and defensive strategies, including ball handling, footwork, and team building skills to beginners and more experienced players. The program runs in the mornings. In the afternoons, participants join the traditional camp program for electives and free swim. Tennis (Morning)/ Camp (Afternoon) For campers entering grades 5 to 8. Runs weeks 3,4,5,6 The tennis program covers hand-eye coordination, racquet skills, basic strokes, court positioning, and advanced skills. The tennis program runs in the mornings. In the afternoons, participants join the traditional camp program for electives and free swim.

Tennis Elective (Afternoon)/ Camp (Morning) For campers entering grades 2 to 4. Runs weeks 3,4,5,6 For younger Wheeler Summer Campers, the fundamentals of the game are explored in a four-day afternoon elective. This elective replaces free-swim. Though there is no additional fee for campers who choose this elective, enrollment is limited, and participants must register in advance.

Wheeler Summer’s goal is to provide campers with a healthy, fun, summertime experience. We provide an introduction to swimming, nature, art, drama, and sports in a dynamic outdoor setting. Located just fifteen minutes from Providence, Wheeler Summer is on the 120-acre Wheeler Farm in Seekonk, Massachusetts and is made up of woodlands, open fields, trails, wetlands, and ponds. Facilities include a swimming pool, camp hall, eight athletic fields, tennis courts, challenge ropes course, running track, and field house suitable for rainy day activities. Through our varied programs and activities, we hope our campers will develop athletic, artistic, performance, outdoor, and social skills. By practicing these skills in a positive, nurturing environment, our campers experience the joy of personal growth and increased self-confidence. We create opportunities for our campers to demonstrate respect for self, others, and the environment.

7:30am. Early Morning Extended Day begins - This option allows you to bring your child to The Farm in Seekonk anytime after 7:30am for a leisurely start to the day. (Additional fee $32/week) 8:15am. Bus Drop-off - Busses leave the drop off area at 8:30am. (No bus service available for half-day Firefly or Junebug campers.) (Additional fee $50/week) 8:30am. Camp Drop-Off - Campers are dropped at The Wheeler School Farm at 350 Walker Street in Seekonk between 8:30 and 8:45am. 12:00pm. Half-Day Fireflies & Junebugs Pick-Up. Pick up half day campers at The Farm in Seekonk. 3:30pm. Camp Pick-Up - Pick-Up at The Farm in Seekonk is from 3:30 to 3:45pm. 4:00pm.
