Recent Builds With several designers and three build teams, Wheelscape is constantly building some of the most exciting skateparks. We have recently completed a large skatepark in Bradley Stoke; this project was led by a well-established user group who had a clear vision for their skatepark. As a result we held several consultation meetings with the project group to develop the final scheme which met all of the user’s needs. The area for Kie Park Skatepark in Whitehaven had some complexities as it was an old landfill site. We worked closely with an engineer to develop a construction method that ensured the parks structural integrity. The Nailsea user group had some fantastic ideas for the design; creating a park that worked as a whole with long flowing lines, whilst providing separate areas for different riding styles and abilities. Incorporating the tarmac surround gave this design another dimension that has proved very popular with local users.

International Builds Designing and building abroad has given Wheelscape the opportunity to work in partnership with local companies from diverse locations. We have learnt and gained valuable knowledge from these experiences which has further developed our skills. This has given us an enhanced understanding of working in a wide range of climates, varying ground conditions and for a broad spectrum of clients. This is something we hope to continue to do and look forward to bringing Wheelscape skateparks, whether it is design, build or both to more countries around the world soon.

Construction Specialist concrete shaping, metalwork, formwork and finishing have led to us create some of the most well received skateparks from both clients and users alike. We combine skatepark users with construction backgrounds and experienced concrete professionals to create diversely skilled expert on site teams. These long serving highly specialised operatives work as in house teams to guarantee our quality control. They have experience working on a vast range of challenging designs and differing sites, from the green field hill sides of the Shetland isles to the humid urban building sites of Doha (Qatar) giving them the confidence and skills to deliver even the most demanding of projects to the highest standards. We strive to be as economical and efficient as possible, through sustainable design and encouraging the use of re-purposed material where we can. We have acted as CDM coordinators on dozens of occasions and all our sites are professionally run to current health and safety standards.
Added Value Wheelscape bring added value to every skatepark project. We can provide a number of additional opportunities; site visits/open days, an official opening day, promotional material and magazine/online coverage as well as tutorials. Many skatepark users are very passionate about they’re discipline and would love the opportunity to work within the industry. Site visits provide local users with an insight into the construction process of a skatepark. We work alongside local councils/user groups to organise an official opening day which consists of demonstrations, competitions or ‘jams’ and provide an opportunity for photographs/video of local users. With many links to skateboarding/BMX/Scooter magazines, we have had many of our parks feature within these giving great promotion to the facility and encouraging users to visit the local area. Wheelscape also have a close working relationship with organisations such as ‘Sk8Safe’ that visit skateparks around the country and educate users on how to safely use the facilities.
