Summer Sensations

Summer in Miami might sound miserable to some but locals know that it’s one of the best times of year to be in the Magic City. Think: discounts at spas and hotels, breezy beach parties, no lines (and special deals) at amazing museums and frozen cocktails galore. Here’s how to beat the summer heat—and rain—in style.

Pool Party

The Confidante’s pool and outdoor lounge area dubbed “The Backyard” (which also served as a backdrop for the “New Rules” Dua Lipa music video) recently launched a new floatie menu and custom pull-up amenity cart. The floats come in all shapes, themes and sizes but when guests purchase the rainbow cloud ($55) or flamingo cooler ($60) they come equipped with a bottle of rosé or prosecco and refreshing fruit plate.

This modern art house combines art and technology to create a really cool sensory experience for museum goers. ARTECHOUSE’s main exhibition “XYZT Abstract Landscapes” features 10 interactive installations of immersive storytelling for people of all ages. Whether you’re walking on floors that react to your footsteps or manipulating light particles within a giant digital cube, this hip spot will keep your mind (and insta feeds) busy for hours.

Renew and Recharge

July and August in Miami play host to Miami Spa Month (yes it’s two months long!) put on by Greater Miami and the Beaches. This means that you get to take advantage of spa deals (starting at $109) all over the city, including at ESPA at Acqualina Resort, the Biltmore Hotel, Miami Beach EDITION and Carillon Miami Wellness Resort, which offers high-tech cryotherapy treatments inside one of the coldest machines in the country—reaching minus 275 F—it will invigorate your entire body.

Ice, Ice Baby

Miami’s seaside dining and imbibing institution, Monty’s has been serving up our favorite frozen concoctions since 1969. Miami Vices, Pina Coladas and Frozen Margaritas are all included on the menu, but the most traditional frozen drink around is the Rum Runner ($10). Named as a tribute to the rum runners in the days of prohibition, the drink was created at Islamorada’s Tiki Bar in the 1950s and features a delicious blend of rum, liquor and juice. Monty’s in Coconut Grove has been serving the same one since 1969, making it the O.G. of all frozen beverages. WWW.MONTYSRAWBAR.COM
