DAN ISHLER hand thrown pottery I have recently returned to my roots in functional pottery for everyday use. These items are mugs, bowls, plates and casseroles that are dish washer and microwave safe and I produce a limited line of porcelain pit-fired, ash and crystalline glazed pottery. Also, I create humorous characterizations of vintage autos in clay. My vision is to depict neglected cars those left outside behind the barn.

LINNANE ARMSTRONG woodcut prints

Detailed patterns adorn dramatic landscapes and natural elements in my linocut and woodcut prints. Nature has always been a source of inspiration in my artwork, and relief printmaking allows me to express the beauty I find in natures smallest details as well as large landscapes. My works are inspired by both Western and Japanese aesthetic traditions.

mixed media Following a meandering line, finding shapes where others see none, and bringing forth images from my mind’s eye have fascinated me since childhood. The child who still resides inside me cannot resist the color, smell, and feel of paint. For many years, the sensual richness of oils captivated me. Later, the fluidity and brilliance of acrylic paint lured me with its freedom. Then, I began painting both with oils and acrylics, and incorporating encaustic, collage, textures and found objects in my work. Today, my work focuses on mixed media and mono prints.

JIM SHORT pieces of tree I rescue homeless wood. These turnings come from trees headed for the landfill or a stove. I enjoy the wood’s connection to Central Whidbey’s climate and community. A signature of my work is highlighting “imperfections”. Forms are developed on the lathe as the wood allows. I would be pleased to demonstrate woodturning in my shop.

TAMMI SLOAN jewelry

My work reflects my love of color, pattern and texture. My focus is generally abstract and organic. I like to utilize the working properties of the mediums I work with to tell a story. For the past four years I have been working with mixed metals to make wearable art. Vitreous enamel (powdered glass which is fused in a kiln or a torch flame) is a new addition in my jewelry line. I love the spontaneity of the medium and will be including it in some of my new mixed media wall art as well.

KATHLEEN OTLEY willow sculpture and encaustic

A symmetry exists between my two bodies of work: large willow woven sculptures and painting with wax, both with the addition of natural elements. My willow work begins with a peeling and dying of the farm grown reeds. Then the joining through bundling and weaving with metals, cords, wires etc. A display of many pieces to choose from and special orders are welcome. My encaustics are themed with songbirds from my ink, pastel and paint originals, then ink transferred to the wax surface, calligraphy from ancient texts. Surfaces aged with paint, ink and graphite to create a 360.678.1381 depth of time. info@otleyart.com OtleyArt.com
