PROFESSOR DAVID M. BIRD As an Emeritus Professor of Wildlife Biology of McGill University in Canada, Dr. Bird has published 200 peerreviewed papers on wildlife, authored/edited 10 books, and supervised 50 graduate students. He has worked with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for 10 years, e.g. counting water birds and mapping their habitat use, censusing hawk and eagle nests, dispersing nuisance birds, tracking birds wearing transmitters, and detecting caribou in Labrador. MONIKA ZIBOLYTE Monika has BSc in Earth Sciences from Vilnius University obtained in 2012, MSc in Geographic Information Science from University College London. ERIC HANSCOM As an intellectual property attorney, Eric has successfully filed and prosecuted thousands of patents, trademarks and copyrights for its clients in more than 50 countries. Eric is currently the 1st ranked drone pilot according to Dronestagram, and has had his drone video work on CNN, the AUVSI magazine, and other media sites. KATARINA NYLANDER Katarina Nylander holds a master’s degree in engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm after studies in Surveying and Computer Science. With an interest in all things spatial she started her career in the geospatial business as a consultant and later manager at sustainable engineering company Sweco. She joined the 3D startup Spotscale two years ago as COO and Head of Business Development exploring use cases for high resolution 3D models of urban environments. FRÉDÉRIC HEMMELER Frédéric Hemmeler worked as a commercial helicopter pilot during more than 10 years. He brings an extensive flight experience in remote areas from Arctic to high mountains, and is a start-up member of Wendake Helicopters Corp. (Canada), co-founder of IHS – International Helicopter Solutions S.A. (Switzerland) and General Manager of Fly & Film (and then its Drone Academy, unique institution in Switzerland providing pilot training) and now CEO of AgroFly SA. JAIMEN HUDSON Jaimen Hudson is the drone pilot and social media sensation responsible for 'paddle boarding with whales' off the western coast of Australia. In 2008, Jaimen had a motorcycle accident that left him a Quadriplegic and confined to a wheelchair. JAX METCALFE Jax has a degree in Ecology and a masters in Conservation & Biodiversity and is founder of Poaching Prevention. Jax has worked as a researcher and a Wildlife Information Services Assistant for Cornwall Wildlife Trust and has also undertaken research work for Natural England. Whilst working at the University of Exeter she helped to organise the world’s first international conference on the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Environmental Research and assisted with research using fixed wing unmanned aerial system (UAS) for monitoring hidden stores of soil water. SABINE HAUERT Sabine Hauert is a swarm engineer interested in designing large collective systems that self-organize. Swarm strategies are either inspired from nature (ant colonies and bird flocks) or are automatically designed in simulation using machine learning and crowdsourcing.
