Making drinks taking drinks & keeping it all down

’ve tallied 3 years of freedom through consumption. The besties and I have goldilocks stories of how we came to understand truly which grownup beverages we enjoy. Set to the tunes of Ke$ha and Lady Gaga, we grew up drinking in Savannah. We went from imbibing Malibu & OJ from plastic cups at house parties to sipping red wine from thin-stemmed glasses at restaurants on Broughton. It was a long and not always joyous

of amber Woodchuck, or a warm cup of Earl Grey and St. Germain are currently my go-to poisons. In the big wide world of wines and spirits, I’m still open to trying new things…with a grain of salt.

comfort food :

{Mom's} Lasagna Recipe f rom the kitchen of con n i e sl oan

Yields 1 delicious pan with 1-6 servings (hey, some people are really hungry)

1 box of Barilla brand lasagna noodles (no need to cook these first!) 1 jar of Prego spaghetti sauce 2 lbs ground turkey or ground beef 16 ounces of mozzarella or veggie cheese (more if you like it extra cheesy) Preheat oven to 350. Brown meat in a skillet; drain off any grease. Add the jar of spaghetti sauce and about ½ cup of water. Heat for about five minutes. You want to make sure that the sauce is a little soupy so that it will cover the noodles. In an 8.5 x 11 size pan, start layering your noodles, sauce and cheese. Start with a layer of noodles on the bottom of the pan then layer the sauce followed by a layer of some cheese. Add another layer of noodles and end with (or top) the layer with enough sauce and cheese to cover the noodles well. You don’t want them to dry out. Place pan on middle rack of the oven and bake for about 30 – 45 minutes. You don’t want it on the top oven rack because the cheese will get brown before the noodles are done. Serve with garlic bread and salad for a delicious family meal!

Which

Witch By Kaitlin Allen

“Perhaps you’re asking yourself,” she said as she stared at them sitting in their candy cane cages. “‘Is she a good witch or a bad witch?’” She smiled and loved the choked sound they gave at the sight of her pointed teeth. Or maybe that was because of the jawbreaker ball gags. Either way, she liked it. “Or maybe you’re asking yourself something else,” she said, “such as, ‘Is she really going into a melodramatic villain spiel,’ but the answer to that should be self-evident. So, back to the first. “For the sake of argument, let’s allow that good and bad exist. Black and white.” The thought made her smile, close-lipped, this time. There were no such neutrals in the cacophonous colors of her candy house. “And in this harsh assumed world of right and wrong.” She wrinkled her nose in distaste. “My putting you in cages would probably be a tally on the side of bad.” “But you are no innocents, no children. No.” She darted forward to wrap her hands tight around the bars, one on each cage. They flinched. She laughed. “No. So the real question is, ‘can two wrongs make a right?’” Her hands peeled away sticky from the melted sugar with a red tinted stripe across each palm. “Maybe, maybe not.” She watched them as she licked her hands clean. “But I, for one, certainly like to think so.” The woven red licorice supporting the cages gave way at the wave of her glistening hand to fall through the floor into the cauldron of boiling cider below. A splash hit her bare foot, but she made no sign of pain wiggling her toes as the skin paled and heated. The poisonous frog she called Toad jumped down from the ribbon candy rafters to land on her shoulder “What do you think, hmm?” She tilted her head towards him. “Good witch or bad witch.” Toad flung out his tongue to strike her cheek. “You’re right,” she said. “It’s probably a grey area.”
