Annual exhibition: Sea Peoples: Navigating the Pacific. Blue water sailing in the vast Pacific Ocean demands accurate navigation. Done poorly, it could be catastrophic, as many vanished ships and wrecks testify. This exhibition explores Pacific sailing with both Polynesians and Europeans.

Current Exhibition: John Tindale: A Vision of Whitby capturing the life and work of this local photographer and champion of Whitby including four incredible films which incorporate John Tindale’s images and interviews with local characters teamed with Yorkshire Archive film footage. The exhibition also features the full twentieth century of Whitby Gazettes which have been digitized to be fully searchable. Art Gallery admission – free to all. A Service commemorating the World Day of Prayer will be held in Christ Church, Ugthorpe at 2.00 pm to be followed by a Faith Tea. The Service has been compiled by the Christian Women of England, Wales and Northern Ireland with the title of “I know the Plans I have for you”. This is an interdenominational Service. All are welcome to attend.

Whitby & District Ladies Luncheon Club meeting at the Saxonville Hotel 12pm for 12.30pm. Speaker is Tim Tubbs who has enjoyed a long and interesting theatrical career, and his talk is “My Life in Musicals”. The Ladies meet January to April then September to December to enjoy excellent lunches, entertaining speakers and a good old-fashioned gossip. Threecourse lunch is £22 per person. Planned future events include a special Platinum Jubilee luncheon in April, and a speaker from the Great North Air Ambulance in September.
