Annual exhibition: Sea Peoples: Navigating the Pacific. Blue water sailing in the vast Pacific Ocean demands accurate navigation. Done poorly, it could be catastrophic, as many vanished ships and wrecks testify. This exhibition explores Pacific sailing with both Polynesians and Europeans. WHITBY MUSEUM & PANNETT ART GALLERY At Pannett Park EVERY MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND SUNDAY Whitby Tennis Club is ready to go from Monday 11th April 5.30pm at Whitby Sixth Form College, behind Whitby and Esk Valley Astro Turf facility. The exhibition also features the full twentieth century of Whitby Gazettes which have been digitized to be fully searchable.

MONDAY MAY 9 May meeting of Hinderwell WI - an outing to the James Herriot Visitor Centre in Thirsk to be followed with free time in Northallerton. The coach will leave Hinderwell at approx. 9.00am picking up passengers at a number of venues. The charge for the coach is £10.00, the ticket to the visitor centre £6.00 and is optional. Whitby Library Events
MAY IS LOCAL HISTORY MONTH We are working with the dialect project (Leeds university) as part of their 40 year study into local Dialects and how its changed. We have a survey available all month that people can join in and fill in here. Tuesday 10th May, 3 - 4:30 pm We have a local dialect poems and prose workshop. Then at 5 - 6pm we have the Yorkshire dialect society coming to share some Humorous Yorkshire dialect stories.
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK is 9-15 May this years focus is helping to tackle loneliness –Thursday 12th May join us for coffee, cake and natter 10am-12pm where we will have available a member of staff from the playlist for life charity to talk about the benefits of creating your own ‘music playlist for life’.
Dementia Action week 16-22nd May - on Thursday 19th May we have a musical trip down memory lane natter group, to talk all things music and help available to create your own music playlist for life. During the two weeks 9-22nd May to tie both of these weeks together, we will have stands and information of local mental and physical health charities including our own wellbeing book selection.
JUBILEE TEA PARTY Wednesday 1st June Jubilee tea party 2:30-4pm for a jubilee tea party (booking essential).
