The Joy of Thanksgiving

Page 1

Weekly Discussion The Joy of Thanksgiving Psalm 100 Psalm 100 is often read during the Thanksgiving season, but it is appropriate anytime because it is a song of praise and joy. Given the goodness of the Lord is enough to sing praises to the Lord and come into His presence with great joy. All nations are to come before the Lord making a joyful noise of thanksgiving and praises to Him with a gladness of heart for His love, mercy and grace (vv 2-3). We are to praise God for who He is and what He has done in our lives and continues to do. He created us and sustains us daily and most of all through His Spirit lives in each of us makes Him worthy of our hearty praise and worship. If we had ten thousand tongues would be insufficient to give Him proper praise and thanksgiving as His goodness reigns supreme and lasts forever (v 6). In the season of Thanksgiving and as the holiday approaches which is set aside for giving thanks to God for His many blessing begs the question how do you praise God?
