LIVE SHOWS @11am (Morning tea 10am) PIRATES TO PINAFORE Told through the eyes of the composers themselves and starring Philip Gould as Arthur Sullivan and Brian Hannan as W S Gilbert, Pirates To Pinafore is a very fast paced and hysterical tribute to Gilbert & Sullivan. Featuring all the hits from their collection of musicals, including Take A Pair Of Sparkling Eyes, Cat Like Tread, For He Is An Englishman and more, this show is sure to be a memorable start to our 2014 Midweek Matinee season. I REMEMBER IT WELL In a tribute to the music of Lerner and Loewe, John Lidgerwood leads a young and exciting cast with stories and songs from your favourite film and stage masterpieces. The show includes songs from Gigi, Brigadoon, Camelot, Paint Your Wagon and the most magical My Fair Lady. A popular and entertaining show not to be missed! SECRET LOVE All-time favourite and one of Australia’s finest entertainers, Simon Gallaher returns to the Whitehorse Centre with Secret Love, a concert of classic love songs and torch songs from the past 50 years. From An Affair To Remember, Secret Love and Love Is A Many Splendored Thing, to classics by Burt Bacharach, Neil Sedaka and Roy Orbison, Simon's show promises his usual style and polish in a fun and delightful presentation. TWO GRANDS FOUR HANDS A wonderful show packed with the music of Ravel, Debussy, Gershwin, Bernstein and more, Two Grands Four Hands combines some of the finest piano playing in Australia. It is a stunning production played on two grand pianos head to head, promising plenty of musical fun. Featuring concert virtuoso Len Vorster and the talented Linda O’Brien, accompanied by the beautiful vocals of Alison Rae Jones and compered by Chris McKenna. STARDUST Martine Pavey presents a sassy and jazzy tribute to father & daughter showbiz legends Natalie and Nat King Cole. Relive the inspiring story and music of Nat King Cole, and his Grammy award-winning daughter who came to devote herself to her father’s legacy. Martine skilfully recreates the magic of their timeless songs, including When I Fall In Love, Straighten Up and Fly Right, Unforgettable and more. Accompanied by a jazz trio band, this is a must-see show! Wednesday 24 September 11am Approx 1 hr 15 mins (no interval)

STRING FEVER This wonderfully innovative show will take you on a musical roller-coaster from Bluegrass to Beethoven to the Beatles. It also includes a cheeky tribute to Andre Rieu and an unforgettable Elton John impression. Energetic duo Jacqui and Brenton Edgecombe, on cello and fiddle, present a show that is unique, classy – and most importantly – a lot of fun. Wednesday 17 December 11am / Approx 1 hr (no interval)


CLASSIC FILMS @10am (Morning tea 9.15am) TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (1962) Gregory Peck stars in this Academy Award nominated film about justice, bigotry and prejudice. Set in depression-era South, lawyer Atticus Fitch defends a man against an undeserved charge and in the process teaches his children an unforgettable lesson about morality and principle. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF

(1971)

Nominated for eight Academy Awards, this outstanding film tells the life-affirming story of Tevye, a poor milkman whose love, faith and pride help him face the oppression of Tsarist Russia. Featuring the classic songs If I Were A Rich Man and Matchmaker, Fiddler On The Roof is a universal story of hope, love and acceptance. Wednesday 4 June 10am 3 hrs 20 mins (incl. 20 min interval)

THE POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL (1936) Shirley Temple stars in this heart warming music-packed story about a young girl and her fast-tracked success as a radio vaudeville star. Thinking she is on the way to boarding school her soap manufacturer father has no idea she has joined a vaudeville act and is working on a radio show owned by another soap company. Not until he tunes in to listen, does he learn that she has teamed up with his chief rival. A very young Temple has plenty of room to sing, dance and shine in this classic film. PAL JOEY (1957) Starring Rita Hayworth and Frank Sinatra, and including a terrific collection of Rogers and Hart songs, Pal Joey is a classic comedy/musical. It tells the tale of a cabaret singer (Sinatra) who spurns his true love for a rich widow (Hayworth).Stellar choreography and glittering stars at their all-time best! LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING (1955) Set in Hong Kong at the time of the Korean War, this beautiful love story with its Oscar winning score tells the story of an American war correspondent (William Holden) and his love for a beautiful Eurasian doctor (Jennifer Jones). As their love grows, problems arise to mar their happiness. Love Is A Many Splendored Thing is truly a high point in Hollywood’s great tradition of romantic movies.
