Les Misérables One of the world’s most iconic and longest-running musicals, Contact the box office Les Misérables tells the story of for performance details Jean Valjean, a former convict Full $43 seeking redemption. Against the Conc $39 backdrop of 19th century France, this Child $36 timeless story of intertwined destinies Group (10+) $36 reveals the power of compassion and the quiet evil of indifference to human suffering. Valjean’s quest for a new life carries him into Paris and to the barricades of the student revolution, where he discovers the true meaning of love and salvation. March of the Wooden Soldiers – (classic film 1934) Classic comedy duo Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy are a pair of bumbling toymakers who manage to bungle Wednesday Santa’s order by making 100 six-foot 8 November 10am toy soldiers instead of 600 oneMorning tea commences at 9.15am foot toy soldiers! Nursery rhyme Full $8 characters come and go in this surreal Group (10+) $7 fantasy as these masters of slapstick outwit the mean-spirited Barnaby and save the day for Mrs Peep and her family, with the help of the giant toy soldiers. Letters From Tchaikovsky Virtuosic and intimate, passionate and lyrical, the music of Tchaikovsky is pure Romanticism. This program is a wonderful opportunity to hear the extraordinary talents of Melbourne Chamber Orchestra’s string musicians at their best—with Tchaikovsky’s breathtaking showpiece for string orchestra, the Serenade for Strings, the charming Album for the Young and Souvenir d’un lieu cher, imaginative variations by Arensky and witty dances by Shostakovich.
Utassy Ballet presents
37th Annual Performance Season Utassy presents two favourite feature ballets this year. For the Junior school – The Little Match Tickets $18 – $34 Girl, with its exquisite production values including the Christmas cloth designed by Maggie Mackie. For the Senior school – the family favourite La Boutique Fantasque, with choreography by Laurel Martyn OBE, Leslie Hutchinson, Sue and Kevin Hayes. This ballet originally conceived by Leonard Massine for Diaghilev’s Ballet Russe depicts the rebellion in the toyshop to save the can-can doll lovers. 23 – 25 November

Based on The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen; the story of a poor girl who sells matches to contribute to her family’s meagre income. Spending the night huddled in the cold and snowy streets rather than going home with unsold matches, she lights matches for warmth. As they burn she sees lovely visions of happy times from her past. Accompanying the performance will be various classical, jazz, contemporary and tap items, including a tribute to the famous painter and sculpture Edgar Degas.

Denis Walter in Concert Denis Walter has been entertaining audiences for 45 years. In addition to hosting radio, Denis still finds time for many singing and hosting performances each year. A big part of his career is the connection to Christmas where Denis has been a guest on Carols By Candlelight over 30 times. We are delighted to have Denis here to bring some Christmas magic to the Whitehorse Centre in 2017.

Santa Claus is coming to town and so are a host of wonderful performers including renowned entertainer Tim Campbell, supported by Michelle Serret-Cursio. Popular children’s act Nay Nay will open the event and will be followed by performances from cabaret and theatre singer Chelsea Plumley, iconic local vocal group the Box Hill Chorale, and the Combined Churches of North Blackburn. Hosting the event is Richard Thomas from Babirra Musical Theatre Company. Santa and his elves will be available from 4.30pm for photos before leaving for his around-the-world sleigh trip.

The Voice contestant Luke Kennedy will headline a fun filled night of entertainment, performing a special show featuring the greatest hits of Australian icon John Farnham. Included in the program are ‘80s Australian heart-throbs The Chantoozies, rockin’ UK classics outfit Raw Brit, and Play School favourite Alex Papps, who will delight the kids. Wendy Stapleton returns as MC and will introduce The Australian Women’s Choir. This stunning night of entertainment will end with a bang with a 10-minute fireworks finale.
