TUNE IN TOMORROW The ever popular Lux Radio returns to the Whitehorse Centre with Tune In Tomorrow, a compilation of songs from serials, commercials and shows during the classic radio period of the 1940s and ’50s. SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS 2013 The Gaslight Company are firm favourites with midweek matinee audiences and we are delighted to present this special Christmas show. Featuring tenor Roy Best with a special appearance by a local primary school choir, this show is a mix of traditional carols and contemporary Christmas songs, spiced with great Gaslight comedy. CLASSIC FILMS @10am (MORNING TEA 9:15AM) ON MOONLIGHT BAY (1951) Tomboy Marjorie Winfield moves to small town Indiana and begins a romance with college man William Sherman. Her focus changes from baseball to learning how to dance and act like a proper young lady. Enjoy Doris Day and Gordon MacRae making musical harmony as they croon and swoon in this romantic classic. ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS (1964) Set in depression-era, mob town Chicago, north-side boss Robbo (Frank Sinatra) hopes to get a leg up in his power struggle with rival racketeer Guy Gisborne (Peter Falk). Setting himself up as a latter day Robin Hood enables Robbo to scam the rich, take his cut and then give to the poor. THE COURT JESTER (1955) Danny Kaye stars as kind-hearted entertainer Hawkins who, disguised as legendary king of jesters Giacomo, infiltrates the court of evil villain Basil Rathbone. When a sorceress hypnotises him he then believes he is also an infamous assassin. Royal chaos ensues as Giacomo alternates between his two identities. Using swordplay and wordplay, Danny Kaye displays both his fancy footwork and his comic genius. Wednesday 30 October 10am / 1 hr 40mins (no interval)
MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET (1947) A gentleman with twinkling eyes, an ample belly and a snowy beard is hired as Macy’s department store Santa. He claims his name is Kris Kringle and soon fills everyone with Christmas spirit; except for his boss who is raising her daughter to not believe in Santa. This timeless tale of faith, love and imagination raises the age-old question: do you believe in Santa Claus? Wednesday 27 November 10am / 1hr 35mins (no interval)
