Nova Music Theatre Inc presents
Gypsy Gypsy is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee and follows the dreams and efforts of Gypsy’s headstrong mother, Rose, to raise her daughters to be stars of the American stage. Trinitas
The Melbourne Chamber Orchestra returns to the Whitehorse Centre after a sold out concert in 2012. This is an exciting and varied program, featuring Benjamin Martin performing the piano solo in Mozart’s vibrant Concerto No. 13, as well as his own work Trinitas, written especially for the MCO. Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Elgar’s Serenade are just two of the many fine ensemble pieces included in this concert by one of Australia’s finest chamber orchestras. Utassy Ballet Schol presents
53rd Annual Performance The Utassy Ballet School proudly presents their Junior performance, which highlights the medieval favourite The Twelve Dancing Princesses. The Senior performance features Beyond the Wood, with amazing design by Kevin Hayes. Colourful outlandish creatures, viking-type warriors and gentle ghosts hint at the flavour of this entertaining Celtic narrative. Christmas with the Band The City of Whitehorse Band, celebrating their 50th showcase, will be playing your favourite carols at their annual Christmas concert, plus music from shows, the swing era and marches. Miracle on 34th Street (classic film 1947) A gentleman with twinkling eyes, an ample belly and a snowy beard is hired as Macy’s department store Santa. He claims his name is Kris Kringle and soon fills everyone with Christmas spirit; except for his boss who is raising her daughter to not believe in Santa. This timeless tale of faith, love and imagination raises the age-old question: do you believe in Santa Claus? Spirit of Christmas 2013 (live show) The Gaslight Company are firm favourites with midweek matinee audiences and we are delighted to present this special Christmas show. Leigh Barker and The New Sheiks Be treated to the sounds of some of Australia’s finest performers of Blues & Swing. 2011 Australian Jazz Bell Award winners, Leigh Barker and The New Sheiks will be joined by the glorious Heather Stewart (vocals and violin). Outdoor Events Whitehorse Carols
Australia’s beloved star Marina Prior headlines this year’s Whitehorse Carols with support from local entertainers and special guests. Popular children’s act The Workers will host the evening, which commences with the delightful Kazoos. The ANSA – young classical musicians with attitude – will perform unique versions of your favourite carols, followed by local singing sisters StellaR playing a beautiful acoustic set. Marina Prior will then take to the stage to perform an intimate arrangement. The final act will feature the Combined Churches of North Blackburn presenting ‘The True Meaning of Christmas’, which combines popular carols to sing along to and narration by poet Cameron Semmens. Guests will enjoy a range of free rides for all ages, with a variety of gourmet food and beverages available for sale. Children’s entertainment, photos with Santa and food stalls from 4:30pm. Outdoor Events Whitehorse Australia Day Concert and Fireworks
Celebrate Australia Day and the long weekend with fantastic live music and a spectacular fireworks display. The quirky Mighty BuZZniks will open the show at 6pm, followed by Australia’s Got Talent starlet Bonnie Anderson with songs from her new album. X Factor favourite Andrew Wishart will sing pop classics from his album It’s Never Too Late, before singer Joe Creighton and his band play tribute to Van Morrison. Next up will be Rebecca O’Conner strutting flawless renditions on stage as Tina Turner. The night’s entertainment will come to a close with a 10 minute fireworks display. The fun begins at 4.30pm with a range of free rides for all ages and a huge variety of gourmet food, coffee and beverage stalls open for the evening. Accessibility Whitehorse Centre is fully accessible for patrons in wheelchairs or with mobility impairment. If you require a wheelchair space in the theatre, please request this when booking tickets. An audio loop providing enhanced audio volume is available in selected theatre seats for patrons wearing a hearing aid with a T switch. Please request these seats when booking tickets. Patrons with hearing impairment and access to a TTY can connect to Council’s TTY by dialling 9262 6325. Privacy Personal information requested when making a phone or mail booking, such as name and address, is collected for the purpose of registering and administering seat allocation and issuing of tickets for shows.
