Nova Music Theatre presents
Cats Based on “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats” by T.S. Eliot, Cats tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats, at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside Layer. A true musical theatre phenomenon, Cats opened at London's New London Theatre on 11 May 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years. Soirée Undoubtedly Australia’s most acclaimed vocal ensemble, and ABC Jazz & Classics highest selling artist for several years, The Idea of North continues to successfully create a freshness and relevance for a cappella singing. Love is a Many Splendored Thing (classic film 1955) Set in Hong Kong at the time of the Korean War, this beautiful love story with its Oscar winning score tells the story of an American war correspondent (William Holden) and his love for a beautiful doctor (Jennifer Jones). As their love grows, problems arise to mar their happiness. Love Is A Many Splendored Thing is truly a high point in Hollywood’s great tradition of romantic movies. Utassy Ballet School proudly presents the ‘The Pied Piper’, first choreographed in 1992 to an original score by Geoffrey O’Connell and then reproduced as a holiday season in 1997 with lighting designed by Rachel Burke. The colour, humour and pathos in this well known poem are translated superbly by the students of Utassy. Outdoor Events Whitehorse Carols
Santa Claus is coming to town with a variety of wonderful performers including Carols by Candlelight favourite David Hobson and opera singer Suzanne Johnston. Popular children’s act The Workers will host the evening and open the stage with a special Christmas themed show. The evening will feature a special performance from The Box Hill City Band and Utassy Ballet School. The final act will feature the Combined Churches of North Blackburn presenting ‘The True Meaning of Christmas’, which combines popular carols to sing along to and poetic narration. Santa and his elves will be available from 4.30pm for photos. Guests will enjoy a range of free rides for all ages, with a variety of gourmet food and beverages available for sale. Outdoor Events Whitehorse Australia Day Concert and Fireworks
Celebrate Australia Day and the long weekend with fantastic live music and a spectacular fireworks display. Mamma Mia, take a chance on me and gimme gimme gimme Bjorn Again! That’s right, the world’s number one ABBA tribute show will be headlining this year’s Australia Day concert with support from country music legend James Blundell and rock ‘n’ roll fuelled Pants Down Circus. The night’s entertainment will come to a close with a 10-minute fireworks display. The fun begins at 5pm with a range of free rides for all ages and a huge variety of gourmet food, coffee and beverage stalls open for the evening.
