2022 HOLIDAY CATALOG
OUR MISSION
The White House Historical Association is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization founded in 1961 by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy with a mission to protect, preserve, and provide public access to the rich history of America’s Executive Mansion.
HOW WE DO IT
We assist in the preservation and periodic renovation of White House interiors, and also commission official portraits of both the president and the first lady.
We invest in public access through our publishing, educational programs, curated exhibits, scholarly partnerships, one-of-a-kind digital image library, and the official White House Visitor Center.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Now in our sixth decade, the Association uses new resources and technology to reach more students and citizens than ever before, inspire and connect with educators from across the country, and bring to life the dynamic history of the White House for lifelong learners around the globe. Furthermore, we remain committed to the vital role we serve in supporting the preservation of the Executive Mansion.
Your willingness to invest in preservation, education, and making the rich history of the White House accessible to all illustrates your deep understanding of the important role the White House plays in our nation’s history.
Respectfully, Stewart D. McLaurin President, The White House Historical Association

HISTORY
ARCHITECTURE COLLECTION
132 rooms, 412 doors, 147 windows, but only one White House. Since the cornerstone was laid in 1792, this historic building has been a beacon of hope and beauty. Our collection is inspired by the grandeur of its neoclassical design – featuring room-by-room guides with a glimpse behind the scenes and illustrations of some of its most memorable sights, and a literary journey through its beautiful grounds.

THE WOMEN BEHIND THE SEAMS
When the fi rst lady of the United States wears a particular label, it is considered a major achievement for the selected designer. We recognize names like Michael Kors and Oscar De La Renta. However, many of the talented women who designed for fi rst ladies in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are unknown today, but their timeless pieces still inspire awe and interest. This collection celebrates the contributions of independent and lesser-known designers, seamstresses, and couturiers to a century of fashion in the White House.
