Description: The elimination rules of modern cities, the ruthless occupation of market by online channels, and sudden pandemic of COVID-19 have squeezed the living space of brick-and-mortar stores of small scale again and again. Convenience for ordinary people, based on proximity of these stores, has been squeezed as well. The long-term stable relationship between people and society is gone. I want to recreate the vanishing neighborhood by this project, reminding people to think about the far-reaching effects of these disappearances.

BACKGROUND ANALYSIS

PROJECT SITE

The construction site is located in the old military camp complex in Yingze District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province in northern China. The terrain there is flat.

With the rapid development of the information technology and the popularization of smart phones, "nearby" - the carrier of emotional communication between people and society is gradually disappearing. Under the great convenience brought by online consumption, many important but intangible things are disappearing. People lack a sense of social belonging. Many problems have arisen at the same time, such as the emergence of a large number of sentimentalization and extremalization of morality. These problems are thought-provoking .

Description: In recent years, wild animals have appeared in living space of human beings, threatening the safety of human life and property. The reason for this phenomenon is that with the continuous development and boundaryless expansion of human beings, the contradiction from the overlapping living space of humans and wild animals is becoming more and more serious, and the living environment of wild animals has been destroyed and cut into pieces. This project aims to rescue some wild animals in severe living conditions, and to call on the whole society to pay attention to this problem, to relieve the current situation, and eventually to achieve harmonious coexistence between humans and wild animals.

Ancient Egyptian artisans The pyramids are the tombs of the pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Under the limit of productivity and raw material, by calculation, pyramid construction materials can reach the minimum height and keep constant room temperature.

Ieoh Ming Pei I. M. Pei centered the expansion of the Louvre on the axis of Paris’urban space created by the Georges-eugène Haussmann. The building uses a basic geometry that blends perfectly into the environment without being abrupt.

JDS Architects The construction team built a vibrant new community. The “Iceberg House”is shaped like an iceberg and has a serrated upper level with a better view of the sea and good sunshine conditions.

E. Kevin Schopfer It is a large-scale triangularshaped ecological building that houses an urban infrastructure system. The main structure is hollow, designed to minimize damage to the building as the hurricane hits from any direction.

04 THE "BRAIN" IN THE UNIVERSE

Item Information Project:Space Building Date:2021.12-2022.1 Instructor:Sam Ma Location:Earth satellite orbit Project type:Individual work

Description: With the development of science technology and the increase of number of human space exploration activities, more and more space junk was released into the universe, which caused a number of spacecraft operation accidents. The disposal of space debris needs to be taken seriously by the whole world. This project is to design a facility, on orbit more than 800 km away from the earth, can dispose and recycle space debris and clean up space for human exploration of space activities as an escort.

BACKGROUND ANALYSIS

The orbit of the space debris disposal facility was chosen at an altitude of 800 km away from the earth, where the density of space debris was the highest. Medium Earths Orbit

INSPIRATION ANALYSIS

The function and operation of this facility are designed to be analogous to the function and operation mechanism of human brains.

The International Space Station has had to make several orbital changes to avoid space debris. 2014

These fragments are also raising the possibility of space accidents.

SPACE WASTE DISPOSAL PROCESS

The processing flow of space debris is mainly to strip, clean, dry, melt, and recover the metal in the debris, and use the heat in the melting process for heating the greenhouse. 6

FUCTION ANALYSIS

The whole facility is divided into two hemispheres: the upper half is the space debris recovery device system and the energy recovery device system, while the lower half is the residential, office and commercial functions used by humans.

This facility runs on an orbit with a lot of space junk. While collecting debris, in order to prevent the debris from causing damage to the facility, a high-tech protective cover is installed on the outer layer of the facility. Space debris enters the middle layer of the facility from the upper suction port for initial classification, and then enters the upper layer of the recovery system to be reclassified, cleaned, dried, melted, and stored.
