The Mount Gardner Lone Oak Trail is a 1.2 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail near Woodsville that offers scenic river views. All skill levels can access this hiking and birding trail. Or climb to the top of Mount Pemigewasset, also known as “Indian Head”, a moderate 3.3 mile out and back trail to the open summit offering spectacular panoramic views.

Visitors wishing to reach a summit without the effort can experience the beauty of the White Mountains on the scenic gondola at Loon Mountain Resort or the aerial tramway at Cannon Mountain. Both peaks offer walking trails with breathtaking mountain views.

Drive west on Route 112 through Kinsman Notch to Lost River Gorge & Boulder Caves. Platforms along the wooden walkway offer views of the National Forest that stretch as far as the eye can see.
