NEWWAVE 08/09

100% AUTHENTIC! Fanatic’s and Sebastian Wenzel´s reputation in Wave board design has been built over years of innovative shapes, leading to some of the most radical, yet user-friendly Wave boards ever built. After more than 10 years of constant development of our wave line, we have decided to let the highly tuned shapes run for 2 seasons, so the 69, 75 and 81 are the exact same shapes as the 2008 models. We have also added a new light wind machine, the NewWave 91, a nocompromise down the line board for heavier rippers and light wind addicts! By combining the finest materials available and the use of the Fanatic ultra light finish, new record weights have been reached. Using a full Carbon Kevlar deck and Carbon bottom lay up and optimising various reinforcement areas ensures a substantial weight decrease, whilst dramatically increasing stiffness and performance. The 2009 designs are packed with CAD features to ensure the NW legend continues to satisfy both our demanding team riders and wave sailors worldwide. A close relationship between shaper Sebastian Wenzel and our world cup wave team ensures direct feedback. The most advanced CAD software available makes it possible to analyse all the curves that work together for perfect harmony and performance. The new mono concave/double concave power control bottom shape is designed with a slight double concave through the mono concave. The mono/double concave in the back section of the board delivers more control in choppy waters and on the face of the wave. All four sizes, 69, 75, 81 and the new 91 share similar design features using the latest CAD technology and perfectly cover the range of riders and sails for all good wave conditions worldwide. The performance of the NewWave line has once again raised the bar in Wave board design, giving you the ultimate shape for wave sailing. The Custom Wood Sandwich construction with unfinished look is both light and durable, for the most hard core days out there!

Sebsatian Wenzel with some features on the NW: - Stretched outline for ultimate control in even most hardcore conditions - New double concave/mono concave power control bottom shape - Super thin and tucked rails for ultimate carving and control - Slightly increased tail width for support in critical wave sections

Only the best fittings are supplied with the NewWave, a top quality CAD designed G10 fin, Fanatic pro footstraps and the dual density Fanatic logo footpad make for a unbeatable package.

Custom Wood Sandwich Technology: Using a lightweight yet robust Wood and Glass Fibre Construction gives a very high strength to weight ratio. In combination with the Double PVC/ Wood Sandwich, this is an extremely durable lay up, the thick sandwich, wood and glass fibre absorbing high forces after even the hardest landings! Used on the NewWave, AllWave and FreeWave.

YOUR TWIN FANTASY! The NewWave Twin is Fanatic’s answer to the latest hype in Wave board design. After a very intensive R&D period around the world we are very proud to present our NW Twin in three sizes: 72, 78 & 84. Developed 100% with our riders and for use in almost all conditions worldwide, the NW Twin aims for more than just marketing hype and a minimal range of use. Our goal is to be the best, not the first to rush to production. The extra time invested to develop this new concept benefits wave riders, which are ready to explore a new world of wave riding sensations! The NewWave Twins are designed to take wave riding to the next level. You can ride closer in the pocket of the wave than you have ever dreamed of and dig turns as deep as is you were on a surfboard. There is no section that can’t be attacked. 2007 PWA Wave Vice World Champion Victor Fernandez (E-42): “I´ve been testing and riding the NW Twin proto in contests for over a year now and the steps we have made in performance and range are huge. I´m stoked that the boards now work in such a wide range of conditions. It was for sure better to do a longer R&D on this board than most brands, to be sure we have the killer boards for almost all conditions!” The Fanatic NewWave Twin is only available in a very limited quantity, in our most exclusive Team Edition Carbon Kevlar sandwich construction. The lightweight and extra stiffness adds even more performance to an already explosive package, try the NW Twin for a new wave riding sensation!

Sebastian Wenzel with some features on the unique design concept: - Slightly shorter in length - Thicker - added volume through the center of the board - Fuller and softer rails (esp. in the nose section) more tucked under edge at 2’ off the nose. - Narrower pointier tails - Higher entry rocker and added tail kick, for no limit surfing/carving - Deeper concave/double concave bottom for supporting power - Optimized fin placement Only the best fittings are supplied with the NewWave Twin, 2 high quality CAD designed G10 fins, Fanatic pro footstraps and the dual density Fanatic logo footpad make for a unbeatable package. The fins used in a Twinser are very critical to the board´s performance, that´s why we opted for working with the experts and leaders in twin fin design, MFC Hawaii. Almost as much effort went into the fin R&D as the actual board R&D, to be sure to have the right balance of tight turning, control, speed and lift!

Carbon Kevlar Double Sandwich Technology Light Finish: The lightest and most impact resistant Carbon Kevlar, combined with a double PVC/Wood Sandwich and Wood/Carbon Heel Reinforcements guarantees the most efficient construction in terms of light weight with maximum impact resistance. The Team Editions of NewWave, AllWave and FreeWave benefit from a double sandwich deck with Carbon Kevlar layups, plus Carbon bottom layups. ALLWAVE 08/09

EVERY DAY IS A WORLD CLASS SESSION ON THE ALLWAVE! AllWave – the wave line especially designed to make you a better wavesailor! Today’s reality is simply that 90% of our sailing time is not in perfect side-off conditions. With the AllWave´s you can enjoy a world class session in even average conditions like at your own local spot! For the 2009 line we have kept the same three sizes, after extensive R&D and positive magazine tests on the 2008 line, the shapes are still extremely competitive. We have however changed the construction and now offer the AllWave in two versions, both lighter than the previous model, in Custom Wood Sandwich and Carbon Kevlar Sandwich Team Edition. The Custom Wood Sandwich construction is both resilient and light, with an unrivaled weight/value ratio! AllWave 72: The very successful mono concave bottom shape of the NewWaves has been adapted to this new shape, delivering performance and surfing. Combined with our legendary rocker line, with a little more volume along the rails, this board never stops. Down the line or backside onshore turns - everything is possible! AllWave 82: AllWave – AllRound! This is the perfect description for the AllWave 82, this shape has an extremely wide range of use. Featuring a new CAD designed rocker with a slightly higher entry, combined with the mono/double concave bottom shape. This combination is supported by slightly fuller rails and a very compact and harmonic outline. This shape delivers every day use performance for any level of conditions. AllWave 92: Looking for a real Wave board, but need size? The AllWave 92 has both – enough volume to never let you down, yet enough built in surfing performance let´s you forget its size once you are on the wave. We adjusted the scoop rocker line to the size of the board to make sure it still has a loose feeling and is an enjoyable ride on the wave. The powerful yet super manoeuvrable bottom shape of the AllWave 92 is the secret to its performance. The mono concave/double concave bottom shape design delivers the power of a board of this size, while the higher entry of the scoop rocker line ensures maximum surfing performance. Featuring three sizes - 72, 82, and 92, the AllWaves cover all wave conditions around the globe.Using Sebastian Wenzel´s CAD shaping programme we were able to keep all the best features of the 2007 line and add new innovations from the extensive CAD database.

Sebastian Wenzel with some features on the AllWaves: - Wider, shorter outline for compact, throw about feeling - Mono/double concave bottom shape for ultimate speed/turning combo - Thinner, flatter deck for stability and free feeling - Perfectly distributed volume forgives mistakes/adds stability

SKATE 08/09

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP STYLE, PRO OR AMATEUR ALIKE! As the Freestyle discipline evolves, so does the contest and test winning Skate. Gollito constantly pushes his Skate prototypes to the max, well on his way to his 2nd world title in 2008. Using custom boards designed by Sebastian Wenzel´s CAD programme, again the authentic team rider involvement Fanatic insists on, no fake marketing here! Two completely new shapes: 98 and 108. For amateurs and pros alike, planing, pop for jumping and unrivaled agility are the key. With riders like 2006/7 EFPT Champion Andre Paskowski on the team using production boards full time, we need to be sure the boards Gollito, Andre and the rest of the crew are using are competitive shapes. But our Skate remains as always an extremely easy board to ride, also for newcomers to Freestyle. Ride the real thing and you´ll appreciate our policy of making our team riders ride only Fanatic prototypes and production boards – only the best is good enough for our team, why should you settle for less, at Fanatic you don´t have to! Winner of 4 of the last 5 PWA Freestyle events and 2006 PWA World Champion Gollito Estredo: “Every year Sebastian surprises me with another step forward. Small changes using the CAD technology make big differences on the water. There are no limits in freestyle, there´s always something new to try, that´s why I trust my Skate to take me to the next level…” The Skate comes in a lightweight Biax Glass Sandwich construction, in the light finish look, for the best weight/durability and price ratio for a modern Freestyle board.

Sebastian Wenzel with some features on the new Skate: - Slightly shorter, compact outline - Fuller rails in front of the mast track, with more tuck under edge for sliding and carving - Thinner rails around the foot straps for tight turns - Thicker duck tail for more pop and slide - Increased center v offers a better slide through the tricks - Reduced v in the tail offers plenty of speed - Combination v for power and style - Equilibrated volume displacement

Only the best fittings are supplied with the Skate, a top quality CAD designed G10 fin, Fanatic pro footstraps and the dual density Fanatic logo footpad.

Biax Glass Sandwich Technology: A specific combination of top quality Biax Glass fabrics in combination with PVC layers on deck and bottom provides optimised durability for the standard Skates. The light finish helps to reach a great weight to price ratio.

THE MANOEUVRE SPECIALISTS! Few boards have won as many tests and hearts as the Hawks, one of our all time best selling ranges! Narrower than our Eagle Freemove boards, the Hawk´s are the perfect blend of slalom-like performance, with freestyle manoeuvrability. Blending all the best features from our Race- and Freestyle programmes into one shape is only possible with Sebastian Wenzel´s CAD programme and database. The result is 4 Freecarve shapes which are narrower and faster than most Freemove boards, for the ultimate in fun sailing! The new Hawks feature performance and comfort of the highest level. Extremely early planing and acceleration, a blistering top end speed and unmatched manoeuvrability! Sebastian Wenzel explains: “The Hawks are fully CAD designed, analysed and shaped on the CNC shaping machine. We re-tuned the already super fast Hawk rocker, the harmonic and carefully analysed curves of the outline support the overall performance, with enough area to provide early planing, with minimal drag for top speed. The new fuller rail with a lot of tucked under edge prevents the Hawks from catching the rail in both normal jibes and during sliding Freestyle moves. The domed deck in the tail/footstrap area provides a secure and comfortable stance.” Built in the Fanatic Wood Sandwich construction, the Hawk has one of the best weight/value ratios on the market!

Sebastian Wenzel with some features on the new Hawk: - Narrower centres and tails for best manoeuvre/speed combination - Flat V design for planing/acceleration and top end control - Volume is slightly further back for manoeuvres and less nose weight

Only the best fittings are supplied with the Hawk, a top quality GFK fin, Fanatic pro footstraps and the dual density Fanatic logo footpad.

Wood Sandwich Technology: A combination of top quality and intelligent layup specifications, Wood Sandwich and Glass/Wood reinforcements, gives the Wood Sandwich Construction extremely competitive weights at value prices. Used for standard Hawk model.

SHARK 08/09

THE TEST WINNERS! Without a doubt the hardest boards to develop are those which must combine the most elements to appeal to all riders. Our philosophy for our bigger Freeride line, the Sharks, is not just to take the easy option of building wide, easy to plane shapes with low performance ranges. We took a much harder approach and developed Freeride boards which are not extremely wide, or fashionably short, can be used by intermediates and more experienced sailors, with an incredible all-round performance. As with our other Freeride boards, the Shark is also now offered in two versions, a quality/durable HRS version, and the new improved Carbon Sandwich Limited Edition, for the absolute best Freeride sessions ever! All outlines, scoop rocker lines as well as the rail shape and the bottom design were carefully analysed in the computer, then shaped by a CNC machine. The result is a perfectly balanced shape, with loads of performance and maximum comfort for sailing. Especially different in feeling is the new re-tuned rocker line, which is a lot smoother than the previous models, particularly in choppy water - the Sharks float effortlessly and do not lose any of their great top end potential, with a free, fast feeling. Optimal centre and tail widths make the Sharks very easy to jibe and control, perfect for intermediates learning foot-steering and easy planing. The perfectly smooth rail/deck shape and multiple footstrap options ensure all freeriders will feel totally at ease and get the maximum performance out of the Sharks. The Shark HRS is perfect for everyday use, with it´s tough High Resistance Skin and is an unbeatable value package.

Sebastian Wenzel with some features on the Sharks: - Moderate centre and tail widths for optimal balance vs. performance feeling - CAD balanced volume distribution which allows extra volume to “disappear” once planing - Fuller rails to keep speed during manoeuvres and or early planing

Only the best fittings are supplied with the Shark, a top quality freeride fin, Fanatic pro footstraps and the dual density Fanatic logo footpad.

WINDSURFINGBOARDS - FREERIDE

The Shark LTD Edition has a Carbon Sandwich construction, with light finish and a G10 fin - for the Freeride experience of a lifetime!

Sebastian Wenzel with some features on the new Shark LTDs: - Moderate centre and tail widths for optimal balance vs. performance feel - CAD balanced volume distribution which allows extra volume to “disappear” once planing - Fuller rails to keep speed during manoeuvres and for early planing

Only the best fittings are supplied with the Shark LTD, a top quality CAD designed G10 fin, Fanatic pro footstraps and the dual density Fanatic logo footpad.

Carbon Sandwich Technology Light Finish: Top quality and high-tech specification Carbon has a perfect weight to stiffness ratio as a result of it´s very fine weave, plus has fantastic dynamic flex. In combination with PVC Sandwich Technology and Glass reinforcements, it provides a perfect stiffness/flex/weight ratio on the Falcon Slalom line, as well as all Limited Edition Freeride boards: Hawk, Eagle and Shark. All of these models are produced with the Light Finish sanded look, for extra weight savings.

RAY 08/09

THE RETURN OF THE RAY! Developed simultaneously with our Falcon Slalom boards, the Ray´s are the fastest Freerace boards we´ve ever made. Even our race team could be seen eyeing these shapes enviously during the R&D process. As the Slalom discipline has grown, more and more people have been attracted to modern Slalom boards. However not everyone has the skills to ride a high performance Slalom board - so Sebastian and his team took all the positive aspects learnt from our Falcon development, combined some of our Freeride features from his vast CAD data base and created the Ray line. The 4 Ray´s have exactly the same volumes as the new Falcons, but slightly narrower centres and tails, with fuller rails for control, comfort and excellent gyb abilities. Combined with our legendary Falcon rocker line, the Ray is the dream board for anyone looking to go fast, easily. But don´t be fooled into thinking these boards have less performance because they are easy to sail, they are high performance machines! Top PWA Racer and Winner of Multiple Long Distance Events, Cyril Moussilmani (F-71): “The Ray is the perfect board for long distance events. It offers a bit more comfort than a Falcon, without too much compromise in speed. I think a lot of riders will choose this board for the new season!” Built in a Wood Sandwich unfinished construction, the Ray´s offer an affordable solution to pure Slalom boards in terms of weight, durability and ease of use!

Sebastian Wenzel with some features on the new Ray: - Fast slalom rocker – developed over years with our Int. PWA race team - Straight power tail - Slim speed outline - Power v - Deep double concave entry bottom - Comfort domed deck - Carving rails - Equal volume distribution

Only the best fittings are supplied with the new Ray, a top quality CAD designed G10 Choco fin, Fanatic pro footstraps and the dual density Fanatic logo footpad. Choco fins, already very experienced in race and Freerace fins, was the perfect partner to develop the right fin for the Ray. The final G10 CNC foiled design, with just the right amount of lift, drive and control makes for a truly great allround shape.

Wood Sandwich Technology: A combination of top quality and intelligent layup specifications, Wood Sandwich and Glass/Wood reinforcements, gives the Wood Sandwich Construction extremely competitive weights at value prices. A single sandwich variation is used on the new Ray Freerace boards, with a sophisticated glass T-Stringer and unfinished look, for the best combination of weight, durability and value.

FALCON 08/09

FLIGHT CONTROL AT SPEEDS OF MORE THAN 40 KNOTS! Built for one use only…... SPEED! The smooth, frictionless rocker line and moderate width create the best combination for maximum speed in all water conditions. At 48cm wide and 242cm long, the Falcon Speed has superb control in choppy water and easily carries a very wide variety of sail sizes. The CAD designed scoop-rocker line allows a lower trim over the water, ensuring great control and easy gibing, at the highest speeds. The mono-concave tail section has a slight tail rocker for a very free ride at all times. More tail volume gives power and drive, whilst the front section is a little thinner, for control in rough conditions. A perfect feeling of “firm footing” and ultimate confidence, essential when pushing your limits at high speeds. Fanatic head tester and Top PWA Racer Pieter Bijl: “ I was riding the final proto in Tarifa last summer and it just wanted to go faster and faster, incredibly easy at GPS speeds over 40 knots. The ease of use and the performance really go hand in hand. With the wide point a little further forward, the board is stable, keeps trimmed and controlled. The only limit is you!

Sebastian with some features on the Falcon Speed: - CAD designed and CAM machined - Mono concave power tail - V/double concave mid section - Comfortable and ergonomic power rail shape - Smooth volume flow - Perfectly trimmed scoop rocker line from our Speed R&D - Special parallel high wind outline

Only the best fittings are supplied with the Falcon Speed, a top quality Speed fin, Fanatic pro footstraps and the dual density Fanatic logo footpad. The Falcon Speed is built in a Carbon Sandwich technology for a perfect weight to stiffness ratio.

TREND SETTING PERFORMANCE! The new Falcon‘s are totally balanced shapes in terms of width/outline/thickness and volume, ending the era of super wide and thin Slalom boards. A new trend is set, introducing easier to sail high performance Slalom boards! The slightly narrower outline and the increased rail thickness, optimize the control and speed factor. The controlled V/DCC bottom shape provides the necessary power to get going quickly, keeping you on top of things at all times. Top PWA Slalom rider and Fanatic Race team tester Pieter Bijl (NED-0): “With the v bottom we’ve optimised the performance while making the boards super easy to use and less sensitive to rider feedback. Having a little less to worry about it on the water will allow you to hit it hard all day long!” Built in a Biax Carbon and Glass Sandwich construction, the Falcon has the perfect ratio of stiffness, weight and durability.

Sebastian Wenzel with some features on the Falcon Slaloms: - New bottom concept and power v in the tail with a good amount of release to free the board and secure it never gets stuck to the water, no matter how fast you go - Deep double concaves (DDC or DCC – for deep control concaves) in the nose of the board, fading towards the centre. These DCC´s cut through the chop like a knife and provide 100% control no matter how fast you go - Reduced pintail outline - takes out surface in the tail area and boost to max speed without limits - Slightly fuller rails, for better grip and comfort, yet with sufficient tucked under edge in front of the mast track to provide superb jibing - The jibing performance also benefits from the reduced outline in the tail - New round nose - Shorter in length, to protect board from lifting when powering down the race course

Carbon Sandwich Technology Light Finish: Top quality and high-tech specification Carbon has a perfect weight to stiffness ratio as a result of it´s very fine weave, plus has fantastic dynamic flex. FOR YOUR FIRST STEPS AND EVERYTHING AFTER! Short and wide is not the answer! We listened to the experts when we were designing our Viper range of Beginner/Family boards – our vast network of windsurfing school organisations. This network provides us with great feedback to design boards that will both attract and keep beginners in our sport. These schools have immense experience with all types of beginners and their input directly influenced our Viper range - modern design concepts combined with proven experience. Long, stretched outlines and a finely-tuned CAD stretched power rocker line guarantee a long waterline. This is essential for maximal sub-planing performance and paves the way to first time planing experience. The perfect and equally balanced volume distribution makes Windsurfing fun and easy - from the very first step on the board. A daggerboard system vastly increases the sub planing performance by offering additional stability. This is the proven guarantee for staying upwind/coming back to the beach, critical for beginners and light wind cruising. Advanced windsurfers can also enjoy the Vipers as light wind Freeride boards, with plenty of footstrap positions to choose from and an optional tuning kit to further boost performance. To further increase the Viper range, Fanatic offers our exclusive tuning kit set: With the help of our tuning kit, the Viper can be further performance tuned into a Fun board, which can be used without a daggerboard. With this tuning kit, the daggerboard case can be closed at the bottom and on the deck of the board, whilst the daggerboard casing is filled with a specially made foam insert. With the closed daggerboard case and the 50cm Freeride GFK fin, the Viper can be converted within seconds into a light wind Freeride board, with a great performance potential! The Fanatic Free rig is perfect for all windsurfers who want to keep it simple with two decisive arguments: firstly the „one mast fits all“ concept and secondly a very competitive price. No confusion over high tech or over-engineering, these sails are all about fun and freedom!

Sebastian Wenzel with some features on the new Viper: - Straight outline shape concept - for better upwind and rig steering - Maximum sub planing performance - due to outline/ volume combination - Fully removable daggerboard - essential for beginners, far bigger wind range, extra stability - Softdeck covers the whole deck area - thermo-heated surface for higher surface durability - Great allround performance for freeride sailing - Easy nose handle for carrying/stabilising - Optional tuning kit to convert Viper for freeriding Only the best fittings are supplied with the Viper, Viper fin 34, a daggerboard, Fanatic pro footstraps and the EVA softdeck over the whole surface.

High Resistance Skin: High resistance composite technology – a optimum weight and durable construction for every day usage. A thicker, durable outer skin gives the board hull a high strength, ding and impact resistance. Strategic use of glass reinforcements ensures an adequate stiffness. Used on Viper/Ripper ranges in combination with a user friendly EVA deck!

RIPPER 08/09

DESIGNED FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF HEROES! Designed with a lot of passion for our youngest riders, Sebastian Wenzel used his „personal test team” of three sons to develop the new Ripper: “Bringing the sensation of windsurfing to the youth of today is the biggest pleasure since they are the future of our sport. With this in mind I designed the Ripper to be as easy as possible – so that anybody trying this board will get addicted to windsurfing, like I was, when I started over 20 years ago.” A very clean shape with loads of potential, also for freeriding. With loads of footstrap and fin options, the Ripper converts in seconds to a high performance freerider with effortless control and ease of use – a great Family board. An early planing and performing scoop rocker line gets the Ripper going in the lightest breeze. An equally distributed volume through outline and deck flow, secures a balanced stance also when not planing. Soft rails and the very comfortable and safe EVA soft deck prevents injuries and makes the first jibe an unforgettable experience. And when it gets windy or rough – the Ripper rocks!

Sebastian with some features on the new Ripper: - Compact and balanced outline - Power v – clean performance bottom shape - Performance and control scoop rocker line - Multiple footstrap positions for first timers till advanced - Removable center fin - endless options for beginners till advanced - Soft deck over the whole deck area – for durability/comfort

Only the best fittings are supplied with the Ripper, two Ripper fins 30 & 39, Fanatic pro footstraps and the EVA softdeck over the whole surface area to prevent injuries.

RIPPER 08/09

CAD SHAPING In 2004 Fanatic shaper Sebastian Wenzel revolutionised Production board design with his CAD/CNC system. Five years later the challenge of pursuing this new revolutionary system has paid off! Our competition is still fighting hard to catch up and we are still in a very comfortable lead. But it is not just a CAD/CNC system that guarantees success. It is the entire set up that needs to be right. Starting with the right software to design the boards and connecting it to the machine. Only highly sophisticated software is capable of designing the complex surfaces of a Windsurfing board. But the machining process also needs to be set up perfectly to ensure a 100% accurate result. 5 years of CAD/CNC experience ensures that Fanatic is the undisputed leader in revolutionary Windsurfing board design. The database is growing constantly and we keep learning every day. An experienced team of more than 14 years at Fanatic, is what sets us apart when it comes to creating an innovative, complete and yet compact range of boards. Sebastian Wenzel: “I have written down all data from all boards I have shaped since 1993, have all specification sheets, which are coming out of the production at Cobra and also archived all templates from my prototypes. I even noted in my shaping book how often I had to go over which part of the board, with which sandpaper. But even the best shaper cannot compete with the accuracy of a CNC shaping machine. This machine can easily make accurate shapes of up to a hundreds or thousands of a millimetre. It was quite a challenge to master this highly complex software, however the time, money and effort spent on this project is paying off now and it is getting really hard to make the boards even better at this stage. Just have a look at our International test results!” Sebastian is able to easily and accurately compare shapes, regardless of how small the changes are. Plus with our various test teams feedback, he can make the necessary changes for the perfect shapes. The software used to design our boards is standard today in industrial 3D CAD design and is capable of designing anything you can imagine. Nothing however beats the actual testing on the water part of our R&D process. We truly use all of our team riders and experienced testing staff, to daily challenge Sebastian to come up with even better designs. While other brands just talk about involving their riders and make pro models with zero actual input from their pro team, we embrace and demand input from our riders. Sebastian Wenzel shapes ALL boards for our team´s use, why would we let any other shaper use the know-how and experience our riders can offer? If the shapes are not good enough for our team, then they are also not good enough to go to production, simple. The future is wide open for CAD technology and we are really excited to see what´s coming next!

FINS 08/09

FINS 08/09 The performance of a board is hugely influenced by the correct fin choice. Fin designs can vary greatly in performance and also their compatibility to certain board shapes. At Fanatic we have always worked with multiple fin designers, to be able to have the choice of the very best fins for our boards. Of course it is much more effort and investment to properly test all the different types and designs of fins from three different designers, but this is well worth it in the end to have the best fins for our boards. For our NewWave, Allwave and Skate collection, we have used top sail and fin designer, Kai Hopf, to give us the ultimate in high performance world cup tested fins. Our newly designed twinser was a good opportunity to work again with MFC Hawaii, experts in the new twinser development – the R&D process extremely critical in twinsers due to the new possibilities in flex, foils, position and size. Finally a brand new partnership with Choco fins has begun, the first product for this season the new Ray Freerace line, where the Choco design team has tons of experience, a very rewarding relationship has been established with a great product for the Ray. Our new NewWave/Allwave and Skate fins, designed by Kai Hopf, use slightly longer, yet flexier and modern designs. The FreeWave fins remain the same, with a new size for the 113L model. All wave/freestyle models come with high quality cnc foiled G10 fins. - Our Twinser fins, designed by MFC Hawaii´s Pio Marasco, come in high quality CNC foiled G10 and are the perfect match for the new world of waveriding that these shapes offer. - The brand new Ray Freerace fins, designed by Choco fins, are the ultimate blend of performance and control – the speed and lift of a slalom fin, combined with adequate control and gibing abilities of a freeride fin – the perfect match for our very well rounded Ray shapes. Available in high quality CNC foiled G10 shapes. - The new performance oriented Freeride fins are specifically developed for our new Widebody Shark Freeride board generation. The aspect–ratio of these fins is quite high (narrow width; longer depth), to avoid control problems in rough conditions, with perfect foils, flex and quality from the G10 (LTD) and GFK (HRS) construction methods. - For the new Eagle boards, we offer slightly longer fins, since the Eagle range is focused on early planning, ease of use and top speed. We have upgraded the Eagle fins this season to G10 for max performance/durability and the best combination of foil, flex and quality. And the Eagle HRS is equipped with the durable and accurate GFK fins. - Our Hawk boards have fins which might seem relatively small, but are in fact perfectly matched to the very big wind range that these 3 boards offer. The boards themselves create a lot of lift, allowing a smaller fin to be used, which itself has a lot of flex, drive and allround ability, again in high quality/performance G10 construction (LTD ED) and the durable GFK construction (WS). - The new Ripper board demands a multitude of different settings regarding fins, for beginners, intermediates, aspiring freestylers and blasting – the new Ripper fins are designed to fulfill all these needs and more, including also a powerbox fitting to close the centre fin hole in the board. We offer 2 different fin constructions, perfectly matched to the actual needs of each board type, namely G10 and GFK technology: G10 Fins: For the board types that need a high performance CNC fin, Fanatic now supplies G10 fins, constructed with high grade s-glass and epoxy resin. G10 fins are made using a process involving extremely high temperatures and pressure, to ensure a high grade of stiffness and durability. These fins are very resilient to excessive wear and tear and also offer extremely high performance levels. GFK: Fanatic offers only the highest quality fittings and accessories to our boards, always finding the blend of right technology and value. The GFK technology allows fins to be produced and developed with extreme accuracy, high quality and great durability. GFK fins are 100% symmetrical and precise in profile - made out of a composite mould.

RIPPER RIG The new Ripper kids rig is finally here! Both Brand Manager Craig Gertenbach and Shaper Sebastian Wenzel know how hard it is to find a good rig for their kids. A sail that is light, durable, easy to use and most of all compact – that is the new Ripper rig! Fanatic Brand manager Craig Gertenbach explains: “When teaching my own kids to sail, I realized pretty quickly that one of the problems with some smaller rigs is that the weight is too high up in the rig, as well as the overall weight. As soon as smaller kids grab the boom, the rig weight was just pulling them over forwards. So we worked on some compact designs with much shorter and lighter masts, slightly longer and reduced diameter booms and as light as possible materials. The Ripper rigs are just perfect for kids to get their first experiences with windsurfing. You can even use go tandem sailing with your kids, the rigs are so short and compact. Windsurfing parents, it´s time for you to sacrifice a few hours of your own sailing and get the next generation of ripper´s out there!” Fanatic shaper Sebastian Wenzel: “I´ve taught all three of my sons to windsurf, the new Ripper rigs are surely a great help for getting more kids into our sport, letting them have fun and getting their first windsurfing sensations! Highly recommended.” All the rig parts are stored conveniently in a nylon bag, which takes up minimal space, the reduced boom and mast diameters are sensibly designed with smaller hands in mind. 3 sizes cover all the needs of the younger generation, with our proven Take-Off rig still sold in the 5m² size too.
