This new collection of paintings is inspired by the expansive beauty of the North Cornwall Coast. John’s oil on canvas and smaller oil on board paintings are defined by deeply textural palette knife and brush work, and a blue-toned palette that balances the rich golds, ochres and pinks of the Cornish landscape against the vibrant colour of the sky and sea. Capturing the coastline as it emerges from winter, through spring and into the glow of summer, his works are inspired by the shimmer of sunlight on tidal sands, rivulets of sea water rushing towards a retreating ocean, vibrant yellow gorse on the sand dunes and white field daisies drifting in a warm ocean breeze.

Painting the landscape ‘en plein air’ and at his studio for the last 25 years, John has established himself as a respected painter of this country’s most beautiful and remote places. He has held solo exhibitions throughout the UK and has been selected for exhibition at the Royal Academy Summer Show, the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Society of Oil Painters. His works are held in private collections throughout the UK and internationally.
