Whitford coatings for cookware Where good ideas come to the surface
W
How Whitford helps above and beyond the coatings themselves
hitford makes the largest, most complete line of fluoropolymer and decorative exterior coatings in the world for cookware, bakeware and small electrics.
Most of our consumer coatings are designed for ease of application and, depending on the formulation, are easily applied by conventional spray, roller, coil or curtain-coating. Cure temperatures offer some flexibility. Often, we formulate special coatings to solve a customer’s specific problem. We provide unsurpassed technical support for our products around the world.
A more colorful world Historically, coatings for housewares have been black. Now Whitford nonsticks and decorative coatings come in a variety of colors from white to cream; light gray to dark gray and black; finishes from matte to metallic to high-gloss; spatters and special effects, including silk screens to almost any color in between.
Regulatory compliance on a worldwide basis Regulations covering many different products are becoming more and more stringent around the world. For this reason, Whitford maintains regulatory experts in its offices. It’s comforting to know that all We formulate different coatings in a variety of patterns for our customers.
Whitford coatings for food-contact applications comply with applicable regulations of the countries in which they are sold.
Whitford’s Quality Cooperative Program Years ago, we established the Quality Cooperative Program (QCP). Its purpose: to maintain the highest quality by preventing problems from occurring before any coated products reach point-of-sale. The QCP establishes quality standards that must be met, and outlines specific test procedures that must be carried out on random samples of all coated products to make sure they are maintained. Only members of the QCP are entitled to use the many coating-specific Whitford trademarks.

How “green” is Whitford? Whitford has been offering and continues to offer a wide and growing variety of “greener” coating options. We strive to make our coatings more environmentally friendly as we maintain and even improve their performance (which reduces environmental impact as it contributes to the “green” aspect by extending useful product life and therefore reducing waste in landfills). All food-contact formulations are made without PFOA and we offer formulations made without BPA and NMP as well. We strongly support the movement to protect the environment for the generations to come. We do not, however, support the so-called “green” concept when it is no more than a marketing gimmick (called “greenwashing”) and less than truthful, designed to make a sale rather than help save the planet.
