RESIDENTIAL BUILDING COSMETIC RENOVATION
Client Profile
With The Crofton, we wanted to achieve a cohesive look. This would enhance the flow starting from the main entrance doors, into the foyer and lobby area, and leading into the corridors. We updated the interior wall finishes to coordinate well with the architectural parts of the buildings that will not be modified. Starting with the main lobby, we wanted to make the building look cohesive from the entrance. We focused on emphasizing the focal point (the fireplace), and this would enhance the flow into the rest of the building. Following into the corridors, we created the illusion of height by utilizing the vertical lines that border the apartment doorways. To make the narrow corridor appear wider, we minimized the “bowling alley” effect by selecting a carpet that does not have linear visual directions, and shadowed the bulkhead in each apartment entrance with a contrasting carpet.
