During Nikhil Chopra’s performance, Coal on Cotton, the Whitworth is open continuously from dawn on Friday 5 July to sunset on Sunday 7 July. To be exact, that’s 4.48am to 9.37pm! Start your morning off bright and early with a free yoga session, try Mumbaiinspired street food, drop into an artist talk, catch a tour of an exhibition, listen to some live music, and see Nikhil Chopra’s performance evolve over the entire weekend.
Friday 5 4:48am See the opening stages of Nikhil Chopra’s performance then hang around for an early bird breakfast at the Whitworth Café. Free tea or americano with every order over £3, available until 9am. 1pm Street Food from Mumbai Try out some Vada Pav spicy potatoes at the Whitworth Café. A variety of dishes will be available at all hours across the weekend. 8pm Cocktail Hour at the Whitworth Treat yourself to a Mumbai-inspired cocktail! 9.30pm__1.45am Free Shuttle Bus Catch a ride from Festival Square in the City Centre to the Whitworth and enjoy a drink at the late night bar. 4am Last orders at the bar!
The Enormous Saturday to Sunday Supplement Complementing the new exhibitions and Nikhil’s ongoing performance there will be live music, workshops, tours, and lots of other things to get involved in from 5am for 24 hours!
Saturday 6 5am Yoga Salute the rising sun with this free drop in yoga session for all abilities. 7am Breakfast Special Tuck into the Whitworth Breakfast Special and receive a free brew with orders over £3. Offer runs between 6am and 9am. 9am The Breakfast Sessions Enjoy your first meal of the day with live acoustic accompaniment. 11am Artist Talk: Alison Wilding The acclaimed British sculptor talks about her work currently on display in the Sculpture Court. 1pm Street Foods Take your lunch like they do in Mumbai and enjoy some Masala Kheema as part of our selection of street foods. 3pm Artist Talk: Pavel Büchler The influencial Manchester-based artist talks about his work and his current exhibition, Idle Thoughts. 5pm Film Screening View the short film Man Eats Rock by Nikhil Chopra and Munir Kabani.
7pm Evening Exhibitions Tour Showing the best of the collections. 8pm Cocktail Hour Kick off your Saturday evening with our Mumbai-inspired cocktails. 9pm Construction Live music and performances inspired by the 1960s artworks in our exhibition Construction. 9.30pm__1.45am Free Shuttle Bus Catch a ride from Festival Square to the Whitworth to avail yourself of our late bar, serving until 4am. 11pm Late Night Stories Strange stories inspired by William Blake and Anish Kapoor in our show of works from the collection, Revolutionary Light. 12am Fancy a Midnight Snack? Pop into the Whitworth Café for beef seekh kebabs or a refreshing mango lasi! 1am Stargazing led by a professional astronomer. 3am A little music for the night. 4am Last orders at the bar!

Offer ends at 9am. 12pm Sunday Brunch What better way to enjoy Sunday brunch than in the award winning Whitworth Café? 3pm Afternoon Tea Some sweet chai tea, or a mango lasi perhaps? These are served in the café all afternoon. 6pm Street Food Mumbai is famous for its street food dishes. Try out some traditional ‘Chana puri’ spiced chickpeas or any of the other delicious street fare being served at the Whitworth Café. This is your final opportunity to get a flavour of Mumbai. Street food finishes at 8pm Sunday. 9pm Coal on Cotton Nikhil’s performance draws to a close as the sun sets on Sunday – catch the last rays and the culmination of his epic 65-hour performance.
