WHAT IS A ZINE? You hear "zine" and you think... Ok, that person just forgot to say "maga" before the "zine." Actually, no. Zines are a completely separate entity from magazines with their own unique culture and spirit apart from other publishing platforms. Zines started with US/UK punk kids in the 70s looking for an excuse to talk to beloved bands. These self-published works don’t go through any authority to get their word on the street, so their often counter cultural content tends towards the irreverent/cheeky. Zines today maintain the super-small circulation, hyper-niche target market, experimental, cheap saddle stich-stapled, & photocopied vibe they’ve always had. We hope you enjoy this zine YTB (a modified acronym of Why The Beef?). YTB aims to curtail the hostility & endorse the camaraderie between rival top art schools MICA & RISD. Shoot us an email at whythebeef@gmail.com to get involved.xoxo,YTB
