Biogas potential in Wisconsin • Wisconsin is the state with the largest number of biogas digesters installed. – Farm digesters – Industrial digesters – Landfill digesters • High biogas potential on farms, as Wisconsin is nation’s second largest milk producer • Relatively small farm size, similar to Germany

Opportunities for rural and industrial development • Farmers in Germany have benefited the most from Germany’s Renewables policy: – Biogas from waste and residues – Solar panels on the barns – Payments from wind turbines on farms • If WI leads the way with good policy, the companies will come, set up operations and sell to other states as they copy the WI model GACC - 2010
