ANNUAL SUMMARY 2017 Responsibility for publishing– Jonas Wiklund Production – WIBAX Graphic design – Mawix Art Printing – Accidenstryckeriet

2017 was a year of continued strategic investments that play a significant role for the Group’s expansion and ambition of achieving the set targets. On the logistics side, we continued to grow in the terminal side and can note another establishment city during the year located in Jakobstad, Finland. A terminal that from the beginning has been a good deal with extensive development potential and above all, a major strategic value in Wibax’s future development in Finland. We also developed in sustainability and during the year sharply decreased our CO2 emissions and thereby our environmental impact. Here, I would like to highlight the conversion of heating to fossilfree oils at the majority of our terminals, but also that more than half of our vehicle fleet actually runs on green fuels. We are also extra proud that we have expertise and a possi-bility to help others with their transition to fossil-free operations. We possess a great strength in being able to combine sales of bio-oils with practically converting existing facilities for new and better alternatives. Wibax has been operating for over 30 years now and the time has come to renew our graphic profile, so it matches our current – and future – even more distinct focus on the environment and good chemistry, for us it marks a starting point for the future. You will still recognise us, but the new logo provides a greener and more appealing impression, in our opinion. Jonas Wiklund CEO WIBAX Group AB

WIBAX MANAGES THE LOGISTICS OF DEICER FOR AIRPORT Most people who have visited an airport in the winter months have seen how the airports work to keep the runways free of ice. We can now explain how the deicer gets to the airports. Together with Perstorp, Wibax has developed a logistics concept that means that Wibax stores and transports deicer to a number of airports in Sweden. At present, we have storage at two of our own terminals and transport deicer to Landvetter, Malmö Airport, Bromma, Arlanda and Umeå airports. As an aside, it is worth mentioning that Arlanda was surprised by a snow storm in autumn 2016. Of course Wibax offered help and delivered deicer to avoid cancelled departures, but to make sure that the Wibax lorry got there as quickly as possible and did not get stuck in traffic, Swedavia arranged a police escort for our tank lorry. The deicer got there on time and Arlanda was able to continue to keep the ice off the runways.

WIBAX NEW TRANSPORTER OF HEAVY OIL FOR PREEM

Magnus Sundström, MD of Wibax Logistics

Preem is signing five new transport agreements for Sweden starting in the autumn of 2018. Wibax will be one of the company’s heavy oil transporters. Preem annually distributes around 2 million m3 fuel and heavy oil on the Swedish market and is reinforcing its position as Sweden’s largest fuel company while improving cost efficiency. The transport agreements have placed emphasis on sustainable transport and co-loading has been an important issue as it reduces the number of kilometres driven and thus the environmental impact. “Preem is a strategically important partner and we look forward to continued cooperation. We are very happy about the agreement as Wibax is very focused on sustainable transports,” says Magnus Sundström, MD of Wibax Logistics. 3

INVESTING IN RENEWABLE FUEL

Since 2015, Wibax Logistics has been dedicated to increasing the proportion of renewable fuel in its own fleet of more than 40 tank lorries. In 2017, this led to us HÅLLBART FRÅN TANK TILL TANK achieving a level of 43% renewable fuel of the total fuel consumption.

GOOD CHEMISTRY

Wibax has produced a film that shows the day-to-day of a driver and what Good Chemistry can entail. With the film, we also want to convey the message that we supply chemistry, energy and knowledge locally and in the Nordic region. The solutions we come up with are not just inside the tanks of our lorries; they are also based on our long experience of helping the chemical industry become more efficient and more environmentally friendly. With our own lorries, drivers and terminals, we take a comprehensive responsibility from purchasing to storage and transport, as well as implementation at our customers. Safe, secure and sustainable! Feel free to watch the film on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Fj-lAE-ORjc 4

REDUCED FUEL CONSUMPTION

FOSSIL-FREE TRANSPORTS

As far as possible, our drivers choose strategically located fill-up stations that supply fuel with a high renewable content. Wibax also has agreements with one of the fuel suppliers that has switched fuel to 100% HVO. For 2018, the target is to increase the share of renewable fuel to 50%, which we achieved in the fourth quarter of 2017. If we continue to maintain this pace for a full year, it will entail a fossil CO2 savings equivalent to around 450 trips around the world with a mid-sized car.

Through good planning and combinations of various modes of transport, storage and return flows, we are able to minimise return freight and create efficient logistics flows to our customers, with higher profitability. In addition, Wibax drivers are coached in fuel-efficient driving.

WIBAX

A CLIMATE CHAMPION

Wibax was proud to receive an award as a “Climate Champion from the North”. It is the North Sweden Energy Agency that wants to highlight companies and organisations in Norrbotten that actually make a difference for their customers and the planet by contributing with their services to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and/or reducing energy consumption.

David Wiklund, MD Wibax Biofuels AB and Jonas Wiklund, CEO Wibax Group.

WIBAX recognised in the category GREEN TRANSFORMATION The motivation states: “The Piteå-based and family-owned company Wibax offers its customers renewable fuel alternatives and their superpowers in green transformation are the reason that they have now been named Climate Champions from the North. Thanks to their success in getting customers to convert from fossil fuels to biological alternatives, their own conversion to bio oil and consistent work on efficiency improvements in transports, Wibax has helped the planet reduce carbon dioxide emissions by a full 393,399 tonnes in the past three years!”

“It feels fantastic! That we get recognition for what we do means that we are doing things right. We do all we can to contribute to something good so it’s very pleasing that it is noticed by somebody else,” responds David Wiklund, MD for Wibax Biofuels and part-owner in the company. “Since own large parts of the value chain, we have an advantage in that we can handle and control the quality and efficiency of each stage. Our customers should know that we think about the sustainability aspect at every level and that of course increases our competitiveness. Wibax has devoted extensive resources to streamlining and reducing the climate footprints for its customers through the use of transports. “We have terminals strategically located and our drivers make a huge effort to drive more resource-efficiently. They are skilled at driving fuel-efficiently and we have succeeded in reducing fuel consumption by ten per cent. This is another one of our climate smart strengths that also provides positive contributions to the finances,” says Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax Group and part-owner.

NEW TERMINAL GIVES WIBAX OY

STRONG PRESENCE IN FINLAND Wibax's establishment on the Finnish market continues to roll onwards. Following the investment in a terminal in Jakobstad in 2017, Managing Director Mikael Kvist and his employees began to strengthen their presence and to cultivate both existing and new customers in Finland.

6

“Our offering of turnkey solutions for chemicals and biofuel deliveries is something new and interesting to customers in Finland,” says Mikael Kvist, Managing Director at Wibax Oy. The terminal in Jakobstad is a key piece of the puzzle. Here, the various products can be received and stored to then be delivered quickly, to the desired schedule. “We can also offer good levels of logistics with different shipping options, using the terminal as our hub. At the same time, this also means that customers can get their products stored and delivered at a competitive price.”

MORE EMPLOYEES

A total of four people are now employed at Wibax OY. Mikael is cultivating the

market in northern and central Finland from a newly-established sales office in Vaasa. A further person works with key account sales in southern Finland with Tampere as its base, and the Jakobstad terminal site has employed two people. In addition, some services are purchased.

EXCITING FUTURE

“Of course, we’re only a small player in Finland so far, but it is very exciting to be involved in building up a business this way,” says Mikael Kvist. “The main aim is to turn to larger industry clients in pulp and paper, as well as the mining and metal industry. The contacts we have had so far point to the fact that our concept is interesting to clients and we have already increased our deliveries significantly. We have also had several

interesting proposals and offers, so we’re looking forward to new clients and orders in the near future.”

FOLLOWING THE WIBAX CONCEPT

Prior to the investment in the Jakobstad terminal, Wibax primarily supplied products for dust suppression, certain base chemicals and deposit control. These areas can also now be developed. “We want to copy Wibax’s earlier concept, but according to Finnish conditions. This is being done through very good cooperation with our colleagues in the Group. I hope that in the future it will be just as common to see Wibax vehicles on our roads here in Finland as it is in Sweden,” says Mikael Kvist, MD of Wibax Oy.

Piteå Elite works on a values basis when they seek new sponsors and cooperative partners. The goal is to find companies that match this and work long term with it.

“Like Piteå Elite, we hope that both of us will get the most we can from the cooperation.”

“Of course, we offer our sponsors the insights and experiences we can convey from elite sports at the highest level and access to the participants in various events,” says Magnus. “At the same time, we are also interested in what our sponsors can offer and what we can learn from them. For us, it is also about giving our participants an insight into business and contacts with companies that might be future employers when their skiing career is over.”

Some up and some down is how Magnus Ingesson summarises the beginning of the 2017-2018 skiing season. It has gone really well for Charlotte Kalla with three world cup wins. She and other skiers in Piteå Elite will also start in the Scandinavian Cup that is being held at home on 5-7 January in Piteå. The goal for the club’s ten skiers is otherwise to win Swedish championship medals at the Swedish Skiing Championships in Skellefteå in March.

“We have had contact with Piteå Elite since this past spring and feel that it works really well to go in as a sponsor to a local association striving at the elite level. We also share the same values and work actively with sustainability issues,” says Jonas.

“Besides this, we of course have Charlotte’s participation in the Olympics in PyeongChang that will be very exciting to watch on site,” says Magnus who is accompanying her as her personal coach.

“We share the same basic values”

WIBAX AND PITEÅ ELITE AIMING HIGH TOGETHER Wibax will be a new sponsor and cooperative partner with the cross-country ski club Piteå Elite Ski Club with Charlotte Kalla and several national team members in the club. A three-year agreement was recently signed. “It feels very good to have gotten Wibax as a sponsor. The company shares the same basic values as we do,” says Magnus Ingesson, coach and board member at Piteå Elite. “Yes, we also have world-class ambitions and always aim to be bigger and better as a supplier,” says Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax Group.

PIF WOMEN AND WIBAX WORKING TOGETHER The Piteå Sports Association’s (PIF) women’s football team has recruited a new goalkeeper, Cajsa Andersson. Cajsa was the starting keeper in Linköping in the past two seasons, has played 43 matches in the Premier Division of the Swedish Women’s Football League and has won two Swedish championships. Besides being a football goalie, Cajsa also holds a Master of Science in Medical Engineering from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Cajsa’s expertise fits in very well with Wibax’s operations and we have therefore offered her a part-time position at Wibax Performance Chemicals, where she will work in the lab. The position is structured so Cajsa can combine the job with football. “For Wibax, it is enjoyable to be able to help contribute to Piteå as an attractive sports city at the same time that we gain important expertise for our team,” says Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax Group. Piteå Sports Association’s sports director Leif Strandh is pleased with the new recruit. “It feels great that we closed the deal with Cajsa. She has a very good season behind her and we are convinced that Cajsa will continue to develop together with us in Piteå.”

WIBAX CONVERTS

TO FOSSIL-FREE HEATING Wibax is working to reduce the environmental impact from our own terminals. By converting from fossil fuel to biofuel in the terminals, where we store products in cisterns and tanks that require heating, we are achieving major savings in CO2 . In 2016, Wibax applied for and received a grant from Klimatklivet to convert from fossil heating to burning bio-oils. The conversion at the terminal in Skelleftehamn was completed at the beginning of 2017. The facility works well and the heating has worked as expected. In autumn 2017, the conversion of the facility in NorrkÜping was also completed. Plans are in place to convert a third facility in 2018. Installation and commissioning take around four weeks per terminal and heating is of course done with Wibax’s own bio-oil.

FOSSIL-FREE HEATING

OF CUSTOMER FACILITIES Wibax Biofuels is a subsidiary that sells bio-oil for heating which for the customers means that they go from fossil CO2 emissions to CO2-neutral emissions. Wibax Industrial has the expertise to project engineer and implement conversion at the customers. This way, the customers can choose the same cooperative partner for both conversion and purchases of bio-oil, as well as a more environmentally friendly transport of the oil. Once the facility has been converted, an optimisation is also done that often reduces the oil consumption even though the heating need is equivalent.

NEW MARKETING DIRECTOR

AT WIBAX

Fredrik Nyberg, 43, is the new Marketing Director at Wibax in Piteå. “It feels great!” he continues. “I have a lot of respect for the fact that I am venturing into a new industry, but I will have 170 expert colleagues to help me out at Wibax.” “We are very happy to be able to welcome such a skilled resource and he will be an important part of our continued development,” says Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax Group.

WIBAX BIOFUELS CERTIFIED FOR SUSTAINABLE BIOFUELS Wibax Biofuels has renewed its International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC) for sustainably produced biofuels. The energy supply of the future depends on a sustainable production of biofuels. The supply chains are complex and impact the environment in different ways. Certification is an effective way of ensuring the sustainability of biofuels and biomass throughout the supply chain. For this purpose, the ISCC has been developed.

ENERGY FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

Over the last eight years, Fredrik has held senior positions in the ABB group, most recently as the Marketing and Sales Manager at ABB Composite in Öjebyn. He also has long experience in international sales, having also lived and worked abroad. “This experience and my business mindset will probably be where I can contribute the most. I am also looking forward to working within a single time zone from now on, with Wibax operating on the Nordic market,” says Fredrik.

GREW UP WITH WIBAX

Fredrik Nyberg is a native Piteå resident, Wibax “born and bred”, but he has only followed the company’s development from a distance. “I am really impressed with the development of this family business that I think has the right approach with a great focus on the clients, good values and focus on great chemistry and sustainability. This is something that I will strive to continue to build on.” “Fredrik will reinvigorate us and help us make wise decisions in this expansive stage we are in,” says Jonas Wiklund.

Along with Wibax’s current sustainability decision, this ISCC certification will verify that the raw biomaterial and products that we purchase and sell meet the requirements set out in the EU Directive on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources (RED). The certification is conducted by DNV GL. “All in all, this will make it easier for our customers to buy our products, and because ISCC is an international certification system it will increase our competitiveness both in Sweden and abroad,” says David Wiklund, Managing Director of Wibax Biofuels.

MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE

DUST’S WORST ENEMY

In Sweden, there are 18,400 km of national gravel roads. In addition to this, there are municipal roads and roads owned by societies (such as in cabin areas), industries and forestry companies. In other words, there are many roads that can give rise to dust if they are not cared for and salted in the right way. “Wibax is the largest in Sweden in terms of deliveries of magnesium chloride for dust mitigation. In total, we deliver around 30,000 tonnes of magnesium chloride per year,” explains Anders Eriksson, sales representative at Wibax and one of the experts in the area of road dust. As soon as the ground has thawed, a gravel road should be salted and this often occurs as early as March in southernmost Sweden. It is best to salt on a beautiful spring morning before the dew has dried or if there has been a small shower.

PRODUCT: Magnesium chloride CHEMICAL DESIGNATION: MgCl2 USE: Suppression of dust on roads, in industry, on trotting tracks, etc. SEASON: Mainly March-Midsummer

12

“To be able to plan in the best way and be sure to that the salt is on hand in storage and depots when it is needed, it’s good to contact us as early in the year as possible,” encourages Anders. “Yes, we say road salt, but the fact is that there are three kinds of salt: calcium chloride and magnesium chloride are used for dust suppression and sodium chloride is used as a thawing agent to thaw snow and ice. Magnesium chloride has several advantages from a use and environmental aspect.

Wibax supplies all different kinds of salt and other products for dust suppression, such as polymer materials used where one does not want to use salts for various reasons. Customers are most often road contractors acting on behalf of the state or municipality.

“Thanks to the molecular structure of magnesium chloride, it provides the fastest effect of the three,” explains Anders Eriksson.

“Even if most of the clients are accustomed users and know exactly what they want, there are also those who order more sporadically. And we naturally offer advice to everyone who wants help finding the best alternative.”

“Magnesium chloride is also not as corrosive as the other two so it is milder to cars and other vehicles travelling on the road.” Anders Eriksson, Wibax expert in the area of road dust.

“Here too, magnesium chloride is better from a work environment perspective since it creates less dust of its own. This is why it is also often used on surfaces where horses and other animals are present.”

Various kinds of salts are something that is needed in the body and it is not harmful for animals and humans in small doses. However, care must be taken with the handling of pure salt since it can dry out skin and irritate the eyes.

So far, we have mostly discussed the summer salting, but salt is also used in the winter as a thawing agent to thaw snow and ice. In this case as well, magnesium chloride can be used for a better effect, but the most common salt in the winter is sodium chloride, meaning regular household salt.

SPECIAL CHEMICALS

FOR INDUSTRY WATER TREATMENT

WIBAX PERFORMANCE CHEMICALS is responsible for the sales of special chemicals and product development for the entire Wibax Group. Over the years, Wibax has built up a wide range of special products, with the needs of our customers and problem-solving in focus. This in turn has resulted in several unique products and high-tech knowledge.

- Feel free to get in touch so that we can help you find the best solution!

Through the cooperation with Suez, Wibax provides a comprehensive product programme for water and process treatments in industry. Focus is on corrosion, deposits and microbiology, which are common problems in membrane facilities, boilers and cooling towers. Wibax also has special solutions for the steel, mining and petrochemical industries. Wibax coagulants and flocculants improve water quality and minimise sludge handling in the treatment of raw water and sewage. We have special products developed to maximise the separation of metals and handle foaming.

DUST-BINDING

Dust is a major problem within the mining industry, affecting both the working environment and safety. In addition to dust particles having an adverse effect on breathing, the resulting poor visibility and deposits can also increase the risk of accidents. High dust levels can also generate a risk of explosions. By minimising dust, we can reduce maintenance work and protect materials. Wibax works closely with the customer to find the right products and technical solutions. With close follow-up and optimisation, environmental benefits are made possible, such as water and energy savings. In addition, operating costs are minimised, availability increases and equipment lifespans are maximised.

CLEANING CHEMICALS

Wibax’s in-house range of cleaning products, WiCLEAN, is used for cleaning of inorganic and organic coatings in all kinds of industry.

This may be continuous processes or processes that are cleaned frequently or during maintenance stoppages. Wibax analyses which cleaning product is best suited for the cleaning assignment. We have personnel who work with CIP (Cleaning-in-Place) and can supply equipment to apply the products effectively and safely.

DEFOAMERS

Foaming can be a substantial problem in many types of industrial process. Wibax has developed and produced its own effective silicone-based defoamer, intended for use in demanding environments with high temperatures and pH values. Wibax offers products adapted for various types of pulp processes, but can also be used in other process areas. The defoaming effectiveness, dewatering capacity, minimised risk of silicone carry-over and emulsion stability have been guiding principles in our work.

DISPERSION

Pulp producers can have problems with excessively high levels of extractive substances in the pulp produced, which can create problems with the coating formation and pulp quality. Wibax has products for improved resin dewatering and resin control. In some processes, there are problems with CaCO3 deposits building up, which reduces the capacity of processes and heat exchangers. Here, Wibax has products that keep calcium in solution, which prevents the formation of calcium salts, such as calcium carbonate or calcium sulphate.

The days look very different as I have to quickly “change hats” and adapt to the company I am working with at the time.” When Lars began at Wibax 25 years ago, there were a total of around 10 employees in the entire company. Today, the Group consists of eight companies and a total of around 170 employees who are represented throughout Sweden as well as in Finland, Norway and Denmark.

“I think the best thing about working at Wibax is that it is a calm pace, I never feel like I need to stress. And we also have a very good transport supervisor who is easy to talk to,” says Malin Olsson.

“The best thing about my work is precisely that variation and that I can always learn new things. Wibax has grown a great deal since the beginning and it’s incredibly fun to be able to have been a part of this journey. Wibax’s continued growth means that my work is constantly changing and developing, which I enjoy immensely,” says Bo Westerlund.

“The best thing about my work is precisely that variation and the fast pace that is in the company. The days go incredibly quick at the same time that my work is both challenging and educational. Wibax’s expansion is continuing and that makes the future very exciting,” says Lars Hedström. 15
