Welcome to Our Newest Alumni
Dear Graduates,
On behalf of the Widener University Alumni Association, I’d like to congratulate each of you on this great accomplishment! We’re so very proud of all that you’ve done during your time at Widener University, and we wish you the best as you begin this next phase in your life.
But today is not the end of your relationship with Widener—it’s only the beginning. You may not realize it, but on the day you accepted your offer of admission from Widener University, you joined a lifelong community . In fact, you joined more than a community—you joined a family—a Pride. We’re All Widener.
What does it mean to be a part of this community? It means we support one another . We open doors for each other . We know many of you will go out and change the world. Changing the world is hard work, and it’s even harder to do alone . There will be times when you’ll need support—and that is when you can lean on your Alumni Association . We are here when you need us most . Count on us: • to make a connection that helps you secure a job or transition to a new career. • to find a mentor who guides you throughout your career journey. • to find a sense of community in a new city or place. • to continue developing new skills and expanding your network. • or even just to connect and reminisce about your favorite moments with Widener classmates, friends, faculty, staff, and coaches .
Being a part of this community also brings responsibilities . Widener needs you, too . We need you to stay engaged and pay it forward, whenever possible . Give of your time and your talents to help future generations of Widener students follow in your footsteps .
Today Widener becomes your alma mater. In Latin, this means “our mother.” Your alma mater has nourished you, taught you, and prepared you to be independent. Widener will always be here for you, always welcome you back with open arms, and, like every family, we will be bragging about you forever.
Please know how proud we are of each of you. How we rejoice at your accomplishments and the people you are and will be . Go out and change the world! We can’t wait to see all the good you are going to do .
So on behalf of your new alumni family—now over 60,000 strong—congratulations, and welcome!
Sincerely, Terry Travis Vice President, University Advancement
