FROM DAY ONE
Master of Laws in Corporate Law and Finance
With more than one million companies incorporated in Delaware, there is no better place to pursue a master of laws in corporate law and finance than Delaware Law. This 24-credit program prepares you for a successful future in the global marketplace and attracts students from around the world. In recent years, students from Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, North America, Australia, and Eurasia have selected Delaware Law for their legal education. These students have brought a wide range of perspectives to the program that has enriched the educational experience of both faculty and students.
General Master of Laws Program Concentrations
Through the General LLM program, you can select a concentration in American legal studies, human rights and dignity law, or corporate law and compliance. You can also complete courses that tailor the program to your career goals. This 24-credit program is ideal for attorneys seeking in-depth training in an area of law in which they currently practice or for those planning to develop a new area of practice.
Why focus your LLM on American Legal Studies?
The program is available to foreign-educated students who have completed a first degree in law from an academically qualified non-U.S. law school. This concentration is designed to help foreign-trained attorneys prepare for the bar exam and legal practice in the United States. Along the way, students receive guidance from our director of Bar Pass Programs.
Online Master of Laws in Corporate Law with a concentration in Regulatory Analysis & Compliance
Our 100% online compliance LLM programs provide students around the world with an opportunity to earn a U.S. degree without ever leaving their country. Compliance with U.S. and international regulations is imperative to the operation of a corporation or health care organization. The fast-paced regulatory changes require professionals to have the skills needed to develop and maintain a compliance and ethics program in their company to prevent and deter fraudulent behavior.
Students may complete the 24-credit program in one year (full-time) or two years (part-time). Interactive online courses are taught by compliance experts around the country and offer intense practical training so students are ready to hit the ground running after graduation.
These programs are accredited by the Compliance Certification Board®, which means that successful graduates with high academic achievement may take a certification exam to become a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) without the typically required 1,500 hours of work experience.
Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD)
Designed for those who wish to demonstrate scholarly achievement in the fields of health law or corporate law. Alternatively, students can choose a general pathway to focus on a research area specific to their interests. The SJD program offers students an intensive curriculum to bolster their writing skills and hone their dissertation proposals in an effort to produce a quality paper. In addition to writing courses and colloquia sessions, students are paired with a dissertation supervisor and will receive individual guidance and feedback.
The SJD program is a three-year program and requires the completion of 43 credit hours. Students must be registered full-time in residence at Delaware Law’s Wilmington campus for the first two academic years. After two years, students may continue their research away from the law school.
Dual Degrees
Delaware Law is excited to partner with universities from around the world. Through our unique collaborations, students may obtain a dual degree from both their home institution and Delaware Law. Depending on the partnership, we offer LLM and/or SJD dual degree options. Our partnerships include universities around the globe.
Legal English
Non-native English speakers can benefit from a program that focuses on legal English to improve knowledge of the U.S. legal system and the English language. Prepare for success in future law-related education with online courses in legal writing, legal vocabulary, academic reading, and professional speaking and listening. With the opportunity to learn and apply legal English skills, students can build the confidence to write, speak, and listen in the context of the American legal system.
