Paving work may start from an exact edge or the centreline of the pavement. String lines may be used to keep the pattern straight. It is recommended that string lines be placed every 6-8 courses. For cutting, use a block splitter or a table mounted diamond tip saw with water suppression.

Frequently Asked Questions I’M INTERESTED IN THIS COLLECTION OF CLAY PAVERS FOR MY HOME. WHERE CAN I PURCHASE THEM FROM? Wienerberger’s clay paver collection is available from most builders’ merchants to order. Ask your installer about our range and they will be able to source your chosen paver product for you. Please note that lead times may vary.

I’M LOOKING FOR A REPUTABLE INSTALLER FOR MY PROJECT. WHERE CAN I FIND ONE? We know how important it is to have confidence in your chosen landscape contractor and trust that they will deliver great results. We would recommend that you consider BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) certified installers in your local area. Any reputable landscape contractor should have the expertise required to install clay paving.

I WANT TO USE THE SAME PAVERS FOR MY GARDEN AND DRIVEWAY AREAS. IS THIS POSSIBLE? Of course! All the clay pavers featured in this brochure are suitable for driveways, gardens and other outdoor spaces in the home. We describe these products as suitable for “light traffic areas”, which means they can easily cope with the demands of a busy family home with multiple vehicles and many pairs of feet.

I’M CONCERNED ABOUT HEAVY RAINFALL AND POTENTIAL FLOODING AT MY HOME. DO I NEED TO CONSIDER DRAINAGE IN MY GARDEN OR DRIVEWAY? This is a really important issue that you should raise with your installer when discussing designs. Drainage should always be considered when a new driveway is installed, as water must not run off into a highway or public road. There are several drainage solutions available for homeowners that your installer can advise you about.

I THINK I’VE CHOSEN MY PERFECT PAVER! DO I NEED TO ORDER A SAMPLE? We would always recommend that you look at a sample before ordering. We try our best to make sure that images in our brochures are colour accurate, but clay pavers have natural colour variation and can look very different when laid in various laying patterns or under certain lighting conditions. For more information on ordering a sample, go to page 46.

SHOULD I INVEST IN A PRESSURE WASHER TO CLEAN MY NEW CLAY PAVED PATIO? You can use a pressure washer to clean clay paving, however we would not recommend this on a regular basis. The high pressure can disrupt the paving bed surface and jointing material, which can cause pavers to crack or come loose. By frequently cleaning your paving with soapy water and scrubbing brush, you shouldn’t need to use a pressure washer.

I LIKE TO KEEP MY GARDEN LOOKING CLEAN AND TIDY ALL YEAR ROUND. WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR CLEANING CLAY PAVING? The best way to keep your clay paving looking good is to keep on top of cleaning it on a regular basis. No special cleaning products or tools required – simply use soapy water, a stiff, thick-bristled scrubbing brush and a bit of elbow grease! Take care not to brush too vigorously and dislodge any of the jointing material or the pavers themselves. We also recommend that you don’t clean new paving for the first three months.

I REGULARLY WORK ON MY CAR AND MOTORBIKE ON MY DRIVEWAY. SHOULD I SEAL MY CLAY PAVING TO PROTECT IT FROM OIL SPILL STAINING? We do not recommend that sealants are used on clay paving products, as any dirt or spills can be easily cleaned up. Oil will not penetrate the body of clay pavers, it will sit on the surface until it is washed away.

I WANT TO CHOOSE A BOLD, RED-TONED PAVER TO ADD KERB-APPEAL TO MY HOME. WILL THE COLOURS FADE OVER TIME? Natural clay is an ideal choice of paving material as colour runs throughout the product and does not fade over time. Manmade products such as concrete pavers have pigment added to them to create the desired colour, which will fade over the years due to UV light exposure. So, for creating a beautiful paving design with colour that lasts – choose clay!
