INTRODUCTION

Wisconsin Film Festival | April 2-9, 2020

Established in 1999, the Wisconsin Film Festival (WFF) is the largest university produced film festival in the United States with an average of 150 film screenings and up to 30,000 attendees. 2020 will be the 22 nd annual Festival!

The University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of the Arts in collaboration with the Department of Communication Arts, presents the WFF every spring. The Festival is known for its diverse film offerings: American independent, international cinema, documentaries, experimental and avantgarde, restored classics, the Wisconsin’s Own Competition (selections featuring Wisconsin filmmakers, themes, or settings), and Children’s Cinema: Big Screens, Little Folks. The Wisconsin Film Festival strives to make films screened during the Festival accessible for all audiences. The venues for the 2020 Festival include Cinematheque at 4070 Vilas Hall, Wisconsin Union Theater – Shannon Hall, Chazen Museum of Art’s Auditorium, Union South – The Marquee, and AMC Madison 6. The UW–Madison Division of the Arts is a gateway to the arts at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. As arts practitioners, theorists, historians, and educators, we advance the arts as an invaluable resource. The arts underpin the vital nature of the university and its wider community. We promote all forms of artistic expression, experience, and interpretation via a diversity of intertwined paths through which we engage and understand our world.
