University Centre Wigan & Leigh College

Many of our students go on to higher education with some continuing their Wigan & Leigh College community experience progressing to the University Centre, based at Parsons Walk or at Leigh College.

We offer a range of courses, including:

Higher National Certificates (HNC) Higher National Diplomas (HND) Certificates in Education (Cert Ed) Foundation Degrees (FdA) Top-up Degrees BA (Hons), BSc (Hons) Post Graduate Certificates in Education (PGCE) Higher Level and Degree Apprenticeships.

Subject areas include:

• The Arts • Business and Computing • Childcare and Teacher Education • Engineering and Construction • Health and Social Care • Public Services • Science • Sport

Students may progress from their Level 3 qualification to HNC, HND, Foundation Degree or a Top-up degree studied over a year, stepping on and off study routes depending on individual circumstances.

Many of them prefer the smaller class sizes, local access and the community feel of studying at the University Centre, alongside the benefits of cheaper tuition fees than most larger universities.
