Connecting people through music Wigmore Hall Learning gives people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities opportunities to take part in creative music making. We lead a wide range of innovative projects and events, both in the community and at Wigmore Hall, for children, families, schools, young people and adults. We are passionate about the impact music can have on our lives and on our society, and three core values lie at the heart of our programme: creativity, collaboration and equality. These are values which reflect the spirit of chamber music, and this inspires all that we do: making music together as an ensemble, with every voice heard and equally valued.

In the Community Partner Schools Programme: Teacher Training
Our Partner Schools Programme embeds music throughout the whole school. Risley Avenue Primary School in Haringey has co-created a programme of teacher training with us and Haringey Music Service. Regular training sessions have enabled teachers to share their ideas and thoughts on creative music making, and to build their confidence in facilitating meaningful activities, right the way from Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2. The plans and ideas generated at these sessions will be turned into resources to be shared across the borough of Haringey, enabling other schools to access these resources and share in the learning.
‘Teachers and support staff from nursery through to year 6 have all benefitted tremendously from the training offered by the Wigmore Hall team. Many teachers who were afraid to go near the musical instrument box now feel equipped and confident to bring music into their classrooms.’ Head Teacher, Risley Avenue Primary School

Join us to explore the film music of Hollywood featuring Bernard Herrmann’s scores for such iconic films such as Hitchcock’s Psycho and North by Northwest, as well as the work of composers who fled from Hitler’s Europe for the United States including Erich Korngold, hailed as a genius by Mahler when he was still only a child. We also look at the reciprocal influences between European and American composers exemplified by the relationship between Gershwin and Ravel.
