Britten Sinfonia Featured Workshop Wednesday 5 December 10.00 am – 12 noon Linked to the Britten Sinfonia concert at Wigmore Hall on the same day, this interactive two-hour workshop will introduce your students to the music featured in the Britten Sinfonia concert. Participants will create their own music inspired by the repertoire they are about to hear and discover the stories behind the notes. Each workshop features players from Britten Sinfonia and is led by inspiring composer and workshop leader, James Redwood. 3

ELIAS STRING QUARTET Key Stage 2 Schools’ Concert Friday 30 November 11.00 am – 12 noon Join the wonderful young musicians from the Elias String Quartet for this interactive introduction to the music for violin, viola and cello. Be inspired, take part in musical games and listen to a programme of fantastic music from throughout the ages. Supported by a teaching resource pack with lots of music-making activities, this concert is ideal for children learning string instruments through the Wider Opportunities scheme. Tickets £2.50
Key Stage 2 Schools’ Concert Young people from Key Stage 2 are invited to join vocal ensemble The Prince Consort for an interactive introduction to choral music, showcasing different combinations of voice and piano, from solos to small ensembles. Presented by vocalist and educator Isabelle Adams, young people will be invited to warm-up and sing some songs with The Prince Consort, conduct the singers and ask them questions. Supported by a teacher resource pack with accompanying CD. Tickets £2.50
REICH + GCSE and A-Level students Wednesday 12 December 1.00 pm – 2.00 pm Students from Secondary Schools are invited to join stunning virtuosic percussionist Joby Burgess for this concert of live music by Steve Reich. Including the Edexcel GCSE set work, Electric Counterpoint, Joby will lead the audience through an eclectic Reich inspired programme, encouraging open discussions with the audience to explore the composer’s influence on other genres. This concert will be supported by a resource pack and will be filmed and made available on the Wigmore Hall website for revision and further viewing in school. Tickets £2.50

HALF-TERM COURSE For ages 11 – 16 £40 for the two-day course
£100 for both days, including lunch A repeat of last year’s sold out training course, this introduction to early years’ music-making is ideal for nursery, reception and foundation stage practitioners looking to develop confidence in creative music-making. Led by Chamber Tots workshop leaders John Webb and Isabelle Adams, participants will explore the value of music in early years’ development and address the connections between musical creativity and EYFS Curriculum. Participants will develop skills in leading singing and percussion activities as well as exploring free play activities and the benefits of child led creative play. All participants will receive a resource pack and accompanying CD.
Calling all budding young musicians! Join professional musicians from Ignite as they collaborate with contemporary jazz artists to create and perform brand new music inspired by jazz. Join a creative ensemble, meet other young musicians and take your new music to the Wigmore Hall stage. Supported by Mayfield Valley Arts Trust and the Monument Trust
